Steel strings will either pull the bridge off that guitar or snap the neck.

Not necessarily.Some can do both. I have steels on a classical I have and am having no issues with the bridge or neck.

Classical and flamenco guitars just don't have the neck bracing for steel strings.  Unless they are specifically made for them it is only a matter of time.  Some people can get away with putting 8 or 9s (electric stings), but even then it will quickly warp the neck or rip up the bridge.  Speak with any luthier and they will tell you the same.
