I was told about this group of glamour models who don't do nudes or even topless.

I asked how they make any money, my informant in this conversation said they do not make money.

So why are they doing it...and what sort of group is shooting them?

And why are you concern about a group of people who in reality aren't real competition in your profession? People do things that don't make sense don't make sense to you, me or anyone else. So, there's no use analyzing it because it's a futile exercise, and we have better things to do than wonder why people choose not to pose nude. Let them do their thing, and you do yours!

They mock the industry I've devoted myself to with their bullshit. That is why.

Read through this thread (and other "she won't do nudes") and pick out the comments that are saying:

"That posing sexy nude is the whole objective of the exercise.  Like why would you do any other form of photo-modeling?"

They could be right, especially if you don't like hot bikinis and lingerie.

If more than a hobby, nude glamour is also big business. Photographers/clients will pay fer it, models earn from it.  You hear that's it's the most profitable and commercialized area of photo and video modeling. If you've got it and wanna make real money then go fer it. But its not the only business or type of glamour in town.

For many photographers, it's the resulting visual art that's all important, the creation and publishing compelling images, whether for art's sake or for commercial intent.  There are some incredibly talented artists here who are so far beyond the question and issues of nudity. The shoot is a means to an end. What the model is wearing is a means to an end.

Some genres, styles or markets call for clothed glamour, and there is a lot of excellent clothed glamour and pinup work out there.  Good glamour photography, whether clothed or nude is very challenging. Both can result in excellent images. Both can result in trash.

This is way different than a "She won't do nudes" this is about girls choosing a genre that contains a lot of nudity and they want to go against the curve and say "I don't do nudes, though I'm in a genre that requires a lot of nudity"

Like artistic.. That is such a big genre there is a perfect home for the non-nude model.

I also get this whole thread and what you're saying. The funny part is I had a long discussion about it today. Also about how some people who know nothing of the real industry preach like they know it all and are gospel

She won't do nudes/I don't do nudes. I don't distinguish.

I'm all for changing the norms, re-invention, creating new genres, pushing/contracting boundaries. I don't have issue with "I don't do nudes" whether its glamour or not.  I don't have issue with size 16.

If I am looking for talent, I just wanna be able to look at/search portfolios - the text and images, and be able to tell what space they are operating in, how creative they might be, how easy to work with. etc.  I am not looking for a political debate.  But I guess MM is more than a portfolio site/ talent marketplace.

And there they will stay, benefiting no one but you in a fraction of a way compared to how they could. If they cared enough. But they don't so plus one for you.

Sadly, you can't control the actions of others! The people you claim "mock the industry" either don't spend a good portion of time on this website to her your rant, too preoccupied with other things in their lives, or they feel your opinion is not worth hearing. You have nothing to worry about. The people you claim "Mock The Industry" will either wise and change their approach, or they'll move on to a more stable career that doesn't require nudity as a job requirement.

They neither help nor hurt you, in spite of your Saturday night ramblings.  It's a very simple deal, sell yourself the best way you know how.  If that's good enough you will be successfull, if it's not there's no one to blame but you.  Failure or success will be a result of your assets or shortcomings and a myspace girl from Peoria, Illinois will not factor into it.

So, basically the only people in favor of these models is

A) the models who we are discussing
B) the shooters who shoot TF with them.

Nope... they're not hurting me any! Yet they bitch there is no money for them... duh!! That is why they get burnt out and new ones pop up all the time for beginners and intermediates to shoot for free, whenever they want. Gotta keep the circle going somehow.

You must have filled in where you did not read.

Hurting the reputation was about GLAMOUR, not mine.
