Maybe we should have a system whereby the pics of the previous day's contest go into some kind of critique pool, so that we we can say why, or why not, we voted for a particular image.

I suppose critiques of pics submitted by models would have to be limited to critiques of the model, but I'm not sure if any restrictions would be needed for pics submitted by photographers.

Yes that would be interesting. Maybe make it optional for the person making the entry to enter the "critique" forum the next day.

I'd rather it was compulsory, then everyone gets the same deal.

I think that would be further deterrent to people entering - some are more thin skinned than others. However some of us would welcome constructive criticism.

Some of us are awake. Had a long shoot yesterday adn a short one today with an out of town model who is nicely endowed so I got more meat for the grist mill to mix metaphors. The idea of a critique would be nice. I like it.

But I have been paying a bit more attention to the entrants and winners in the contest. I am beginning to think we are chasing a chimera. Look at the winners page for the last 10 days. Out of 10 only 2 qualify as "sausage" shots. And 4 show nothing at all. The ohter 4 are normal size. It means that 80% show normal penis or none at all. Hardly a cause for concern.

The previous 10 days show. 1 with no dick showing. 3 "sausages" And 6 average size. IOW 70% are normal to none. Folks, that's a hardly a problem. Sure big penises win maybe 20-30% of the time which some may deem unacceptable but to me it is normal variation.

And just at a glance with no critique the winners seem mostly good quality imiages both technically and aesthetically. Some are very good indeed. No need to tweak the contest IMHO.

I am sure your stats are correct Stanley and that does support the view that it is not always a large endowment that wins the day. However when you go to vote each day you are presented with a display that wouldn't be out of place in a butcher's window. Even for me, as a gay man, I have to be sure my breakfast is fully digested.

In terms of widening the appeal of the contest(s), I wonder if more people would participate and vote if it were a bit more vegetarian.  My feeling also is that on days when there is not a really good quality meat free image, the sausages do rise to the top of the pot.

You must have a sensitive stomach. If the pic is just a skinny young man with a big meat and nothing else to offer, just a frontal with no composition or decency I jsut pass over it and vote for something else. I do agree that big dicks get votse but winners are not always teh biggest or most prominent.

For myself  I think a penis is not particularly and interesting thing to look at. Everyone's is pretty much the same and it's not really pretty.

Actually, none of the first three from the contest today (7th.) had any sausage on show.  Must be a sign of maturity among the voters.

And the membership is demonstrating maturity on both sides of the PotD18+.
The quality of images has increased markedly and gone are the days of the "cock and cunny club"

I know people are always whining about the Female18+ contest winners are always spreads and crotch shots.  This is often true, but I'm wondering if there isn't some kind of slant agains beautiful butts!

I've lately become kind of an assman (thanks, Kramer), and I've noticed how seldom there are photos entered that highlight women's glorious glutes!

As a matter of fact, although there are hundreds of shots of spreads and big boobs, in the last four days of entries that I looked through, there is not one really good shot of a bum!*

What's up with that?  Why such a dearth of good ass shots?

*Does not apply to the male contests.  There are asses galore in those entries!

Hi, I keep entering photos into the Male 18+ Contest and they keep not showing up on the vote page? Why are they being rejected (They haven't been used in the past 15 days)

JoJo, can you check an entry for me in the female 18+ contest?  I entered it October 14th and it's never shown up.  It's the only thing I've entered in the last few weeks so should be easy to see which one I'm talking about.  Thanks in advance.  smile

Both you and Jessie entered the same pic the same day.

In cases like this I used to DQ the second of the two entries until I started getting "but I'm the photographer - I hold copyright - you should DQ the model"
Now I DQ both - no more squabbles wink

It's pretty self-evident what I meant. Vote early and often, as they say in Chicago.

It helps to have friends. Helps to control multiple accounts. The way the contest is set up, there is no effective way to control vote stacking, whatever efforts are made.

I gave up a long time ago thinking there was any chance of winning without a network, and I use he contest ony as a showase.

I wonder how JoJo puts up with it, people complaining about things they should know better about.   Everyone (that whines and complains here) SHOULD know that multiple account voting does not work.   If you win and you have voted with multiple accounts they will see it, and DQ you.

No real way to curb friends voting for friends, but that is the same anywhere not just here.   Actual technical cheating though, they take care of, and have taken care of it, for as long as I've been a member.

Thanks JoJo for all your hard work in the contests.

POTD 18+ Men appears to have become a competition about schlong size rather than anything to do with the quality of the photography and the modeling. Is there anything on the horizon in terms of a contest where male nudes can be judged on merits other than endowment? This isn't a complaint, rather a serious inquiry into the challenge of trying to be involved in a competition that's become Schlong of The Day rather than Picture of The Day. Many talented photographers of men who I've talked to won't enter the competition anymore because it places their work in a genital contest rather than a photography contest. Can this ever be resolved or is it just the nature of the beast?

Please don't slam me for asking a question that might have been asked before. I did several searches and nothing in this context came up. Thanks.

Because it is the voters that make this supposed distinction.  JoJo or IB has nothing to do with our MM colleagues' vote choices.   Also from what I've seen unless sometimes they are voting for smallest 'schlong' there are exceptions to your perception.

I uploaded a pic last night and then tried to run it through the 15-day checker. The pic was there but there was no thumbnail - just a red x in a box.

Does that mean the same thing will happen in the contest? Hard to get any votes without a visible thumbnail.

It appears you uploaded quite soon after 00:00PST.
Have you read this: https://www.modelmayhem.com/po.php?thread_id=855055

Your upload was received but because you uploaded soon after midnight PST the formation of the thumbnail did not work properly.

I remove all such uploads before the contest goes live.
And no, it doesn't count in the calculation of the "15 day" rule.

I can not reset the "already submitted" marker  that would allow a second submission (and no one can manually). That marker is reset at 00:00PST daily.

I am having a similar problem. I submit my photos, fill in my info, and it all jives with the rules. So why do I never see my own thumbnail or how many votes I get? Are we not allowed to see our own, or is mine not getting up for some reason?? Confused - help please!

When you check this, there's a note at the end which says:

"Forum contest
I don't think you entered the forum competition in the past 15 days."

What contest does this refer to?

Thanks
