Hey!

I'm a makeup artist/hairstylist, and most of my business comes from bridal and special events. I haven't made the leap into editorial yet, which is what I'd love to eventually do, but now to my question. I was at the Makeup Forever site looking to apply for my Pro card, and these are the requirements:

Magazine tear sheet with name credit**
Reel with name credit
Program/call sheet
Union membership card
Agency representation (sponsored comp card, representation later, link to roster)

The problem is that I dont have any of the above since I don't really do shoots yet, and Im not part of a union. Is there anyway to get around that? I would appreciate any suggestions/tips. Thanks!

Um apply for a diff pro card like M.A.C, Bobbi Brown or NARS? I really dont think there is any way around the requirements.
On another note I dont see myself ever sending my tear sheets in they are in my book!

I gave them a copy of my business card, copies of my smashbox and MAC cards, a print out of my website, and a copy of one of my signed bridal contracts.  They were very sweet and responded quickly.

You can apply for a discount at Naimies.com, which is a little more lax on their requirements, and order MUFE straight through them. It's the same, 40% discount.

If you attended school for hair you can send them a copy of your enrollment, or your graduation certificate.
or just email them, and tell them exactly what you said, they are pretty lenient.

EDIT: You can also send them a copy of your other pro cards big_smile

Great! I have all of the above! Do you recommend that I just mail the application along with copies of the criteria, or should I email them first?

I might say that copies of all other pro cards+business card+bridal contract did NOT work for me with MUFE :-(

Email all your information here:( [email protected]) and write PRO CARD in the subject field, you should get a reply by the next day, or give the pro loft a call, and ask to speak to the person that takes care of the pro cards. smile

514-288-4445 - thats the montreal pro lofts number, im not sure the number for the one in the states.
