Hi

I'd really appreciate to get some constructive feedback on my latest retouch. It's my first try at anything with this much make-up, and I'm not sure if I'm satisfied, at least not with how the make-up came out? What could I have done better, and how? smile (In hindsight I see that her hands probably could use slightly more work..)

After (new):

Before:

I also recorded the whole process if anyone would like to have a look (rendering videos with correct colour was harder than I thought!)

Thanks!

nice clean up and make up enhancement. over all it could use some finishing touches and focal point adjustment and contouring...but looks great leaving the photographers adjustments intact smile

You could work a little bit more on the hands, especially her left.. it looks a bit rough against the rest of the picture (and this means the rest is really nice and soft (: )

Generally I like it!
However, her camera left mouth corner doesn't look right to me. I'd remove the highlight and add some more burn contouring on the edges. This way the lip would be popping up from a flat cheek.
The neck could also use a bit more d&b as well in order to better match the face.

Agreed, it almost makes it seem as if its the hand of another person.

I like it. Especially thank you for video recording.
I am a bit curious, I saw this:

So I wonder what is it? It seems to help you cave and contour light but I'm not sure because I saw you put it in the Soft Light blend mode with 50% gray fill.
Can you help me explain a bit about that. You keep it or it's just a layer helps your eyes dodge and burn easily?

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I've updated the OP with the newest version, feel free to throw any feedback you have at me (especially in regards to her mouth, better? worse?) smile I realize the camera right hand still has a few "quirks", they are much more apparent in the low-res version than the original, but I'll probably sort it out anyhow.

Han Sam: I paint with black/white on a regular d&b soft-light layer, usually following highlights and shadows already there to highlight them. I paint with 100% 75% 50% etc. opacity to appriximate the output effect, then I just gaussian blur the d&b layer to a radius of taste (usually somewhere in the 30-70px region, depending on the picture size ofc.) then adjust the opacity down to something that works. If needed, I clean up with regular micro-level d&b. Hope you understand, I'm not that good of a teacher :p

Thanks Pari! I know it doesn't look perfect, will have a go at fixing it when I have more time smile
