Hi guys im completely new to this industry and as such would like to know the score about Agencies and wether they are willing to work with models with tattoo's and if so are there any based in the UK.

As you can tell from my pictures im quite heavily tattooed and have had my ear stretched but i have had quite a few offers for shoots from MM Photographers.

Will receive the same response when approaching Agencies?

Many thanks

Jonni

Chances are, probably not.  Check out this website as to why:

Try "Ugly". www.ugly.org

I think it's a pretty cool agency. They take models that don't necessarily fit other modeling agencies and such. It's kind of hard to explain, but if you read about them, you'll see. They're in London. They might have a few other locations too, but I'm not sure off the top of my head.

it's not that agencies are necessarily anti tattoos: really depends on what type of tattoo, the work you want to do, your general look...

Nicholas Lemons, for instance, is pretty awesome (he has modelled for dolce and gabbana) and pretty tattooed (imo)

you do come across as more "alt" than "fashion" to me, but really the only way to find out what agencies think, is to apply and see what they say smile

You could try Spirit Models (they have been fairly consistent at getting me work and have recently be working with some pretty top level magazines etc) http://www.spiritmodels.co.uk/ and then there is http://www.darkarts.org.uk/

And of course Rage/Ugly, but they only have auditions once or twice a year I believe (correct me if I am wrong) and the last set just past so you may have to wait a while. They also don't usually take models from outside of London, but they do make exceptions if you are willing to cover your own transport to and from auditions.

Just try emailing the agencies, if the model is good and the tattoos match the style of the models, and the agency is looking for your type at the moment, you can get signed at the biggest agencies.

A good (/overkill) example of people who are signed at serious fashion agencies is Rico AKA Zombieboy:

If the agent is interested in your style they will sign you. If they are not they won't. The only way to find out is to email them. One agency may not be interested, but maybe the other is.
Good luck applying to all the agencies smile

I would think your largely stretched ears would be a much bigger issue than your tattoos.
But everyone has said it, talk to an agency. I've seen a lot of males with ink in fashion.

idk but just wanted to say that you're lucky to live in the uk, it seems like people and possibly agencies are more open to "alternative" models than people are here in the US

They would work with your tattoos and gauges depending on how you photograph.
There is a few selected models here in NY that have sleeves and gauges.
Ash Stymest had gauges but not as much tattoos.

Just go to an open call and blow them away.
