hi!
In this thread I'd like to give a little extra special time to plus size models and some of their recent (so not posting old stuff in here) work in magazines and tests. Feel free to post yourself, but please only spreads or tests. When there's more stuff out there, I'll post it in here. I hope it inspires some of you .
This is not meant for models to promote themselves, and this is certainly not meant as a place to bash straightsize models. I can't tell you what you can and can not post or do, but I just want to make clear that I meant this just to showcase some professional plus size modelling pictures, not to give a message across that these women are somehow more sexy or "real" than any other woman.
I have another thread going about plus size models, but that one has gotten really long and kinda messy . I'm not going to post there anymore, but feel free to check it out though!

First look at one of my shots for Simply Be:
Hopefully I have more tests coming up next week now i'm with 12+ too. Seems surreal that little old me is even considered for the same board as Erika and Laura Catterall etc...

Model Candice Huffine in “The Girly Show” for W Magazine, March 2012. Photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott and styled by Edward Enninful. The cool thing about this (for me) is that it's a spread using a plus size model and straightsize models. diversity

OP: thanks for posting these.
I love all these images. But there is something wrong with this image. The girl is "too tall" compared to the countertop. Unless this girl has 46" legs, she is standing on a box.

not sure what you mean... When I stand straight, the countertop goes up to the same place as well (the model is robyn lawley, she's approximately the same height as me), and she could be standing on her toes a little. I don't think she needs to be a giant for the proportions to work in this picture, but maybe I'm missing something

I think you should start a tumblr posting these images, all I ever see on there is pictures of slim girls, which is fine because they too are pretty, but then so many people reblog 'wish I was this thin' - it would be awesome to see a blog celebrating beautiful plus girls without being against any other sizes. Tumblr really seems to lack bigger beautiful girls! :[

there are tons of tumblrs and blogs with pictures like this, I get the pictures for these threads of some of them, and others from agency boards. But most people don't know they're out there!
the thing with plus size (both the community as the industry) is that it has been growing consistently, but it pretty much lives seperately from the rest of fashion. But I see no reason why we can't mix things up a bit. Inspiration has no size
WOW. Beautiful pictures. Gotta be honest though, most of these "plus size" models I would still consider a thin woman out in the real world so it's kind of shocking for me to see them considered plus size. Especially Myla and Stephanie. I'm kind of at an in-between size right now and I'm not sure if I want to lose a few lbs to be straight size or gain some to be plus size. I've checked with my doctor and I'd be good either way as long I keep healthy and within my BMI range.

at a size 12, I woldn't consider them skinny women in real life, but it's definitely true that for a lot of plus size models, being a plus size model does not mean they're a plus size woman .

They're really size 12? I read somewhere Robyn was a size 10 and Myla and Stephanie both look tinier than her too. Huh, crazy how distorted my views on body and sizes are then.

for information that is most likely correct (not always, but has greater chance), always best to check their agency Robyn's are: 36D(I don't understand why agencies do that, this is not the actual measurement of her bust, but her cupsize)-32-42
With 42 hips, she's a 12. But she's really tall of course, so it "looks" smaller.
not to mention that they're models like the rest, so the right pose, light and styling can really shape a body. And a little bit of photoshop here and there does the rest
Stephanie Shui has 41 on her hips, she's a 10-12. Myla is indeed a 10, and probably one on the small side of 10 if it weren't for her boobs...
But you know, that's definitely agreat thing about the plus size industry: size diversity

Definitely...now if only we could find more of that in the straight size industry. I'd love to see some size 4's and 6's. Lara Stone is the only size 4 I know of in the straight size industry.
And just wow...these girls are crazy gorgeous. I seriously feel like my eyes have opened up, the only plus size models I knew were Crystal Renn and Kate Dillon.

oh, definitely check out the other thread then as well, got tons of models in there!
Nice post, Maria. Though many of them I would not even consider as plus size, they are normal to me. It's the main stream straight up models that are super thin, in my opinion.

I also think it's worth noting that plus size models are also generally 5'9"+ and as such are distributed really well. There's a huge difference in body types for a plus sized 5'10" model and a plus sized 5'2" model.

yes, definitely. It irks me when people say "plus size models represent the average woman". they don't. They may be closer to the average size then straightsize women, but there's nothing average about them. Unless average women are 5'10 and model-gorgeous, they're not average .
While I don't even compare to these beauties, I do have a magazine spread out this month. I haven't got it yet, so I can't post pics, not even sure I should, but I always love these threads! They are such great inspiration.
