Dodge and Burn brush settings
I use dodge and burn for retouching. so what is the best way to control ur brush settings. and i am using a pen tablet. some ppl put 100 opacity and 5% flow and some Opacity 5% and flow 100% so what is the best for skin work when u use two curves dodge and burn. Jul 28 12 11:49 am Link There is no rule, I use 3-7% opacity, 5% flow. It also depends on the density of the brush, I use 25 percent on default softest brush. No pen sensitivity on, no airbrush. I really hate no pressure sensitivity settings cause they remind me the mouse Jul 28 12 12:58 pm Link I'll almost always use a soft brush. I don't really care to pick my pen up all the time so I have the flow set to 50% or lower. My opacity will range any where from 1% up to 15%. For me, the biggest thing that determines what my brush settings are is how fast I want to apply the affect. If I want to build up the affect fairly quickly, then I'll have a higher opacity. If I'm trying to be more careful, then a lower opacity setting works better as I can slowly build up the effect right to where I want it. I would suggest you focus on the results while working with whatever you are comfortable with. Sometimes you will have to experiment a little to find your preferred settings. When i use 100% opacity and 1-5% flow my brush edgers are not Sharpe its like a noise it paints. What do you mean by not sharp and by being like noise? Sounds a bit strange to me. I'm always using pen pressure in shape dynamics and also sometimes in transfer options. Sometimes I also lower opacity. For me there's actually no rule, I just do what I feel will look best and will make my work easier. Jul 29 12 12:55 am Link I paint on a grey overlay layer WITH the actual dodge and burn tool at 6% "exposure". Jul 29 12 06:09 am Link MMmm I use 3% Opacity and 100% Flow Aug 08 14 06:52 am Link 100% opacity and 1-5% flow but really I'll go higher if it's working with what needs to be done. I'm also pretty sure I always have my brush at the max softness. I don't use pen pressure while D&Bing most times though, I save that for hair. Aug 08 14 07:12 am Link I do the two-curves technique with 100% opacity and typically 3% flow. Aug 08 14 06:51 pm Link It's all personal taste really but I use flow so I don't need to lift the pen. Around 1-5% Aug 10 14 06:44 am Link I use the d&b tool right on a jumped layer and sometimes a soft light if I want to change the light some. Aug 23 14 05:03 am Link I use the curves method and a soft brush with 2-6% opacity and 100% flow, shape dynamics and pressure sensitivity off. I like flow but when I dodge and burn I want more control on building up so I prefer to lift the pen everytime I need it and avoid to accidentally overdo it with flow Aug 23 14 08:36 am Link |
