galaxia bender wrote: is this a fair thing to say, based on my bio? Hi Sam, I've just spent 10 minutes on your portfolio and blog site - so it's fair to say I know nothing about you, your life, what you want etc - so here's a series of thoughts that you should feel free to ignore... Model Mayhem is all about connecting photographers, make up artists and models so they can shoot/create Your profile does not really 'sell' you on any level. Example? The pictures you've included (and thoughts you've written) project a junkie-hippy chick with a slight bi-polar disorder. That may or may not be you - but i'm just telling you how it all reads Why tell you? Because what you put on MM will dictate your creative/collaborative opportunities. If all you're looking for is an extension of your blog - and a way to tell a wider audience how you think/feel - then you've probably nailed it... By it won't maximise your connections here. Looks-wise, you're certainly going to find it easier to shoot in the alt genre, but that doesn't need to limit you, I'm just saying that when anyone starts something - it's easier to build experience etc by hitting the lowest hanging fruit. If I had to pick someone famous that your look reminds me of, then it would be Patricia Arquette (overall, but mainly in Stigmata - check this link http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=patric … e+stigmata then click 'images') I don't think 'sitting room with a phone-cam' is going do it... You seem to be creative - so tap into that creativity. Get 5 GOOD shots of you, retouch them and post those in your portfolio. Use the 'Profile' section to explain what you want to do and what interests you - rather than too much about how your brain works. You probably spend a lot of time thinking about what books/music etc interest you... If you want to progress on MM, then you need to 'build your own opinion'. The easiest way to do that is with LISTS. They are easy to use and free :-) Find ANY picture you like on MM. Top right on the page is 'ADD TO LIST'. The browser will ask you what you want to call it. You can have as many lists as you like - and add as many shots as you want to each one. Personally, I'd suggest you start with:- 1) Shots I'd like to try (helps people understand if your ideas match theirs) 2) People I'd like to work with (gives them a nudge) 3) Amazing - Love it! (for stuff that's pro-class and way cool) Finally, if you tick 'No' to nudity in your profile, then stick to it. Your profile reads 'I want to get my kit off - please convince me'. You're young and have LOADS of time. Start BASIC modelling first - build your lists - understand more about what YOU want from this and WHY you're doing it. That's your 'core'. Start there, build up your portfolio, connections and ideas THEN decide that you want to be naked, swinging from a chandelier by your ankles... But START SLOW and DON'T send mixed messages. --- If you feel it is worth your time then... Take what you want from things like this and leave the rest! Best - Cool style! I would love to see this shot with a better photographer and a more punched up mood. Worst - It is out of focus and does not add much to your port.

There were a good deal of shots that did not add much to your port. I would try to pick your fav from each pro shoot and keep it to just one or two from each shoot. Try to keep your MM for your absolute best looking pro shots... it will help you line up more and better shoots.

Thank you and sadly yes I am aware, I thought it would be better to have more of the few shoots I have then to have 5 pictures in my port. Lol but it sounds to me like that would be the better way to go???

In my opinion, this is your worst shot: It just seems like she is naked for the sense of being naked and it doesn't help move the story forward. Mark
