So I have this problem with my body even though I'm fairly thin, and I'm wondering best exercise to counter this look. Because it is just not cute when I want to wear a tight dress that my thighs are bigger than my hips it makes me look well oddly proportioned. What are good exercises to make thighs blend better with the hips?

Thanks

Exercise will usually increase muscle mass.  Which means it might not help all that much.

Side leg lifts

Can't say for sure, since ya know, no pictures, but they'll usually smooth out the side of your thighs.

In my opinion, thighs are often too small.  We really need a picture.

Yes, need a picture to tell for sure. But supposedly, if you want to lean out muscle you can exercise a lot and eat very little and very little protein. That way you break down the muscle. Look into it though, I just heard of this a couple \ays ago.

Unfortunately, this is not (complete) truth. If you want to thin out...light weights (or no weights) and many more reps of whatever exercise will thin you out and tone you up. If its your thighs...look into hi steps and lunges. As far as not eating protein...not true. If you overdose on it...it will pack on weight - but if you eat higher than normal amounts, inherently the food you're eating will have less carbs and allow you to burn more fat storage. I would stick to low carb foods and watch your breads/pastas for a little while. See if toning up works.

This is terrible advice, please ignore this. Intentionally starving your muscles of protein in order to "break them down" is dangerous, medically speaking. Keep in mind that your heart is a muscle, too, and can effect your cardiovascular health.

Talk to your doctor about weight loss. Many find that decreasing (NOT eliminating) carbs, making sure you are around your doctor's designated target calorie intake for the day, and doing low-impact cardio and toning-type exercises can help you burn fat without bulking up on muscle. Toning exercises are usually ones that favor using very little or no weight, and doing many repetitions. The opposite is your standard "make bigger muscles", which typically uses increasingly large amounts of weights to gain strength over time, the goal being "lift as much as you can, and then some more".

+1 Michael Kerrek , plus it might help to find out if you can widen the hip area a bit by actually gaining a little muscle mass there.

Consider Yoga -

not health-club "yoga-size"

real, proper Yoga.

Bikram if you can stand the heat, literally....

This is hard to believe.  Do you have measurements to support this claim?

honestly I think it's a certain bodytype. regardless of their weight, some people just have very pronounced thighs

like serena williams, for instance

yes, tennis is a sport with short outbursts for the legs, but someone like sharapova has completely different legs for instance, even though they play the same sport. some people are just prone to developping fuller thighs

and I've noticed with more "glamour" type models, especially black ones, you can see very full thighs as well, even when they are fairly thin

you can't really cheat around your bodytype, not really. just work with what you've got smile

Thanks everyone I will have to take a photo of me in bikini as I don't have one. I usually wear clothing that is not tight so it won't be as noticeable.

Basically my thighs protrude further than my hips and I wanted some exercise to making thighs smaller.

I haven't seen a picture yet, so I don't know how "bad" it is, but it's likely that it's worse in your head than it is in real life!

I have a friend who is very insecure about her tummy, and that she doesn't have much of a defined waist. she wears a lot of loose tops and always covers her stomach with a bag or coat when she's sitting, and because of that, it becomes more obvious. if I see her in a fitted dress without her trying to cover up anything, I don't notice it at all!
