New to MM and modeling in general. Feedback? Comments?

New to modeling, therefore do not have many professional photos. That's where I'm looking for your help!

Do you think I have the potential? Tips, feedback, and critiques are encouraged! Thank you :-)

Hire a good photographer to make some images for your portfolio. The ones you have now don't help anyone to answer the question of whether you have potential.

Few photographers, other than those with ulterior motives, are going to consider you for a shoot based on what they see in your portfolio.

Well the first thing I would ask: what are you wanting to do with this?

A lot of modeling doesn't come down to "potential". It also doesn't have much to do with "how beautiful" a person is either. I don't say these things to be negative; more like realistic about the industry and to give you honest information. For example, if there is a casting for a blonde, I personally would not qualify, regardless of how beautiful or how perfect I was in every other aspect. It comes down to what the project/client needs at that moment in time.

I know height comes up a lot on Model Mayhem, and I do see that you are 5'4". That would immediately take you out of the high fashion realm, but again, that is not a slam. There are people here in the Detroit area that you would pass on the street who look nothing like a model, yet they have the ability to act, and have made some serious money as an actor in the movies that have been filmed here. They clarified their expectations and their goals, and realized that they have a talent for acting and are amazing at it!

Having said that, what are you trying to do in the industry? If you are looking to be a runway model in NYC, I'd say that's not realistic due to the height. But if you have a passion for other things, perhaps acting, I would tell you that there are quite a few opportunities around here to do just that. But that takes some training. There are quite a few agencies around here who specialize in commercials and even some print that you may qualify for. But only the agencies know what their clients want, and those are the ones you should be asking. wink

Oh, and you can't tell me that you don't have any professional photos. I happen to know the dress you are wearing in the one photo is actually made of paper, and I love that paper dress designer around here! I always admire those paper dresses in the windows of the Aveda salon in Royal Oak. smile Looks great on you, BTW. smile

I've been modeling for almost a year now and absolutely love it. There's just one problem; I'm trying to get paid shoots/travel. I want to work with amazing people that WANT me. What do I do? What more do i need in my port? I have a ton of photos just haven't posted them yet.

You will need better photos and more experience with the industry to make a reasonable judgement on your ability to be successful.  Your height will be a challenge for fashion and commercial print modelling.  Working with leading photographers in the area such as Davide, Steve Ragland, and Dan Lippit, as well as talent agencies such as Renee Godin, Gail and Rice, and the Talent Shop will provide a more effective evaluation than the few photos you have here.
