Project Collab- the coolest monthly arts and creative networking salon Los Angeles has to offer.
Come join a pack of fellow artists- filmmakers, fine artists, photographers, writers, costume designers, models, actors, interior designers, entrepreneurs, techies, web gurus, and everything in between.
Collab is back for October at our new home, and we have an awesome line-up in store for you. Collab is only $3 (free for members of the Collaboration Project Los Angeles Facebook group,) with an inexpensive cash bar and $1 pizza slices.
(join the Collab group here for free entry: https://www.facebook.com/groups/29447061790/
In addition to all the regular networking, creativity, and general awesomeness, we have a few special guests and a great Round Table discussion planned.
The theme of October? How to do awesome make-up, prosthetics, digital, and set effects on an artist's budget.
We will be showing some of the tricks to help your indy film, artistic photo shoot, Halloween costume, or just about anything else look professional on an amateur budget.
Our speakers so far (if you'd like to be added, let me know.)
Scot Clark on Prosthetics and Props
"In the past six years, $cot Clark has made thousands of props that have been used in movies and haunted attractions across America. He is currently designing the Halloween party for club Avalon in Hollywood."
Scott Barrett on digital awesome for those without ILM budgets. You've probably seen some of Scott's digital visual f/x work before at Collab, come hear how he makes that magic.
Kevin Flint on set design for a dime
If you've been to Dystopian Studios or seen one of his photo shoots, you'll know he has some pretty aweseome looking sets...which cost an unbelievably small amount of money. He'll talk on making a set that looks costly, but won't even put $100 on your Home Depot credit card.
Jenn Nelson - Professional Zombie Make-up Artist
You've probably seen her work in a half dozen movies and television shows, now come see a live demo of how she transforms a regular mindless actor into a zombified mindless actor!
If you are a MUA with some f/x experience, please let me know. My favorite f/x MUA cannot make it that night, but I'm sure there are others out there. Let me know, and I'll add you to the line-up.
And anyone else (set designers, digital artists, wardrobe experts, etc) that want to share or do a presentation about their craft, let me know!
After our speakers finish, we'll have a round table talk to share ideas and help you with your specific project needs.
Don't care about any of that stuff above? We'll still have a room full of artists, makers, entrepreneurs, designers, and creatives of all sorts to mingle with and meet. Michael Nemo will be on hand doing live painting, so feel free to bring your own work in progress and join in.
****** And finally, congrats to the "Mile...Mile and a Half" crew who presented at last month's Collab. They reached their $78,000 Kickstarter goal with room to spare! Can't wait to see more out of that talented crew. *******
