I think what you are doing is actually the definition of hating. Some people wouldn't know talent if it bit them in the ass and gave them rabies. While the vocal tics and hiccups that became his signature in his later work are awesome, the cleaner arrangements of the early stuff really showcase that gorgeous, clear tenor he had (one of the prettiest voices secular music has ever had IMHO). It's also the reason why "Off The Wall" is definitely my favorite MJ album. Oct 12 12 12:07 pm Link Pre-"Off the Wall" was pretty great, too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_HHSOJ0jJA "Ben" was one of his many early hits and shows the purity and power of his young voice. The one image in this video also shows what a great-looking kid he was before he started altering. For those unfamiliar, "Ben" was a hit movie about a lonely young man and his murderous, super-intelligent rat. The beauty of the theme song was a wry twist on the horror of the story. The sequel -- being a sequel -- just had more rats. Oct 12 12 02:01 pm Link Orca Bay Images wrote: True, there were rats a plenty Oct 12 12 02:06 pm Link The lyrics of "Ben" always made me wonder how much he may have identified with the song... a lonely young man looking to connect with a true friend.
