After making the two copies of the background layer, I click on the high copy and then go to image and then apply image.  When the apply image box pops up, it doesn't include the scale and offset boxes.  What am I doing wrong?  If someone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure your "blending" mode is set to Subtract or Add depending on your "bit" count.

You must change the fusion mode to add and check if you are working on 16 bits or 8 bits

Thanks!  When I clicked on it, the blend mode was on multiply so that's why I didn't see it.  Once I changed it to substract or add, it popped up.  Thanks again.
