Upgrading Makeup Brushes
Right now I'm using a Crown brush set (mixed in with a variety of other brushes) that I bought off Hautelook a while ago. They're not bad, but I can feel the cheapness in quality and I would like to upgrade to something nicer. Right now, I want to just start off replacing my face brushes. My eye brushes are working for right now, but my face brushes are where I feel that I really need to upgrade. I was looking at the Silk line and the Revolution line from Royal and Langnickel... Nov 13 12 07:40 pm Link Yes, the Revolution brushes from R&L are really good and i really like the different shapes they have. The silk brushes are good too. If i were you (and if possible), i would go to a store that sells them or a trade show in order to test their softness and the amount of pressure you want for each of them. I have a silk blush brush, for example, that is very soft to the touch but will also apply blush only very subtly. I also like bdellium brushes a lot. And, if you have the funds, Hakuhodo is the bomb. Nov 13 12 09:00 pm Link Louise Young brushes are sooo lovely, really recommend them. http://www.louiseyoungcosmetics.com/brushes-all.php Nov 14 12 01:35 am Link i have the R+L silk blenders and blush brushes which i enjoy using and i also have Pazarey boufard brushes which i had to purchase during my make up class. i only like their small fan brush and i am not impressed with their blending brush. i bought some art brushes at my local art store which is excellent for gel liner application. i must say my initial purchase was a small set of crown brushes and i still like the foundation brush by crown. i also like the cheap set of foundation brushes i bought at the local drug store (superdrug)by cosmopolitan. They are fantastic brushes, especially the face brushes. Their stippling brush is amazing. They are also very affordable, I think I got the entire set online for around $50. My favs still arey ve neil Nov 16 12 02:20 pm Link I didn't used but touched the revolution series - This are really amazing, so I think it's worth to get upgrade to this one...the handle is fab idea! I personally got few brands now: MAC, SEPHORA-basic range, SIGMA (stippling brushes, flat powder brushes, contouring brushes) Sephora is better than MAC but worst than SIGMA. SIGMA have FAB quality! for me is best of the best. For me real techniques are good but wound't defeat the SIGMA quality... Google..you tube etc. I have every brush under the sun and these are the best..super soft...shaped and the range covers everything. Gossmakeupartist on u tube reviews them. She actually designed her brushes with crown brushes, I could go on for ever..but won't. They are the best I've used so far. Nov 19 12 11:42 pm Link I've just got hooked on Hakuhodo brushes. Still own every single one of them, they don't lose hair. My favorite ones would be the flat e/s ones, add to that the dome ones (14s & 15s). Nov 27 12 08:23 pm Link I so need to update my brushes! Some of mine are 10 years old! Good thread, I dont do much for makeup anymore except for my own shoots so Im out of the loop on whats good for brushes as of late. I used to do tons of bridal and working other photographers shoots. I pass my bridal inquires to other pro artists, I save my dates for wedding photos. If Im still open a month out Ill book bridal because I wont book a wedding that late in the game.
