How do you decide what you want for Christmas?
A-M-P wrote: agreed Nov 14 12 09:44 am Link I like to give lists of not too expensive yet feel unique gifts, and I try and find things those I am shopping for will like as well with similar parameters. Mind you as the years go and I grow older, it does get harder to make these lists, I get much more excited about finding something fun for others. Here is a sample of my list for my father-in-law, I'm his first "girl" as he had two boys and for 7 + years have gotten spoiled by the man. http://www.neatoshop.com/product/Nomsku … pcake-Mold http://www.neatoshop.com/product/Cursed … kie-Cutter http://www.neatoshop.com/product/Ginger … kie-Cutter http://www.neatoshop.com/product/Ouch-Cutting-Board Notice they are all totally so I can make delicious awesomeness? I get older and I just want house stuff! Now I have a niece and I spoil that kid, this year its all about Cinderella. My so far stash for her includes a few Disney dresses/dolls, plus a movie/book. Nov 14 12 09:49 am Link I never think of anything I want, I will accept a gift but I value the thought not the object. Nov 14 12 09:58 am Link I usually go to Best Buy and find the 6 most expensive TVs and then put htem on my list. Nov 14 12 11:28 am Link Gianantonio wrote: hahahahaha silly Nov 14 12 11:31 am Link I don't ask for anything, I don't expect anything I have what I want Nov 14 12 11:32 am Link When I was a kid, I'd browse through the Jafco Catalog, now, I think I just browse Amazon. Nov 14 12 11:33 am Link I ask my friends and family not to get me anything, and I'll return the favor. Nov 14 12 11:35 am Link People always ask me what do I need? Then I have to explain to them that I'm living with my other half, in a nice flat, nice area, with a car and cimputer each. I don't *need* anything. And if I did need something, I would have already bought it. Like, if I need food, I go out and buy food. If I need my car fixing, I go get it fixed. The only thing I need is for people to leave me the fuck alone about Christmas presents Nov 14 12 11:37 am Link I keep an Amazon wishlist. Then I can give it out and be like, "hey, this is the stuff that I've wanted for the longest". Though, this year, all I want is Microsoft Office so I can write some damn reports with consitent formatting. OpenOffice just doesn't cut it, and the free version of Word doesn't have the features. I don't have the time, or else I'd ask for Assassin's Creed 3, Halo 4, Sleeping Dogs, etc. Nov 14 12 11:37 am Link Dont expect to get anything, except older. Mostly, Christmas gifts have always been for the kids in my family. But...if I must make a list....one of everything in the Nikon catalog and 3 of everything in the Red catalog should put a smile on my face Christmas morning Nov 14 12 02:07 pm Link ArtisticPhotography wrote: Wow, I definitely don't want a Sheryl Crow for Christmas, whatever one of those is Nov 14 12 02:23 pm Link Just leave some milk and cookies, I'll be happy:-) Nov 14 12 04:55 pm Link Santa Claus wrote: You get soy milk and kale chips !! No more smoking either, Mr jolly pants. Nov 14 12 06:11 pm Link ETSY wish lists are inevitable there.. Nov 14 12 06:43 pm Link I'm beginning to feel awkward about Christmas. I don't want people to buy me things A)just because its December 25th. B)when I can't get everyone something in return when id really like to & C)because they spend too much money on nice things for me, when there's people out there who would love just Anything for Christmas:/ Edit- and this year is easy, specific gift cards because I have maybe 5 outfits that somewhat fit me& I'm donating the rest. Nov 14 12 06:43 pm Link this is usually how christmas goes... mom: what do you want for xmas? me: i dunno...i've got everything i really need mom: what about (insert practical thing)? me: nah, i can just pick that up. mom: yeah...that's true...well...think on it (read: i've got this giant heap of incredibly thoughtful but inexpensive things i've picked up over the last 365 days that you'll really love.) me: okay, i will. ... dad: soooo...how 'bout that new (insert expensive photography or computer thing)? me: totes awesome! *lengthy discussion ensues* dad: *prints out picture of said thing, and puts in envelope under the tree, signalling its impending arrival a couple days later from b&h)* Nov 14 12 06:47 pm Link I haven't gotten Christmas gifts since I was like 16 or 17 years old. Edit: I take that back. My mom bought me a set of candle holders for Christmas in 2002. Nov 14 12 06:48 pm Link i'm going to ask my parents for a $300 LED hula hoop with fire wicks. I'm gonna tell them I can't afford to spend a month's rent on a toy but they could! or tehy could take my to Costco and buy me a years supply of: tampons, cat litter, paper towels, noodles, cleaning supplies, cat food, oatmeal that stuff Nov 15 12 09:15 am Link I let my housemate surprise me - she knows quite well how I'm wired (and vice versa ) and after all, if I need anything, or seriously want anything practical, I acquire it when the need, or the mood, strikes.... We don't exchange gifts, we just have a big family dinner. Being broke never felt so good. Nov 16 12 08:10 am Link Presley ONeil wrote: Are these on your list?
