Through the end of 2012, this class is being offered on the basis of individually scheduled private and semi-private sessions.

This is an ENTRY LEVEL class, with no prerequisite knowledge of camera settings or lighting gear.

Intro to Studio Photo Shooting
D. M. Gremlin Studios, Long Beach CA

Class fee is $60/person, with payment due no later than 48 hours in advance to confirm.
Class duration is 2 hours for single-person private sessions, or 3 hours for group classes with 2-4 participants.
Please email [email protected] or call 866-334-4364 for further information or to register.

Before you can get creative in the studio environment, you'll need to have a basic comfort level with the lighting and equipment you'll be using to shape your shots. This class is designed to meet that goal, whether you're coming into the studio just starting in photography, or having previous experience shooting outdoors/in available light.

This class presents detailed fundamentals of the controls and features of studio strobes and wireless flash sync triggers, how they interface with your camera, and what camera settings and functions you need to know and use for shooting in manual mode in the studio.

The classes will be presented/demonstrated using D. M. Gremlin Studios' complement of AlienBees strobe lights and Pocket Wizard wireless transceivers.  However, the information covered applies to a wide range of studio lighting equipment, whether you're shooting here or elsewhere.

Even if you have a lot of experience shooting in any type of available/continuous lighting, this class will give you the ins and outs of what makes shooting with studio strobes different - techniques to employ, and pitfalls to avoid, that don't apply to other types of light.

Do you know why there's a black bar across half your frame?

Do you know why some areas of your just-taken shot are blinking?

Do you know why that Pocket Wizard isn't firing?

You will after this class, plus MUCH more!
