Hello my fellow MUA lovelies!

This is a topic out of sheer curiosity.

For your personal use, do you use the makeup that is in your pro kits? Or do you have your own personal kit for your exclusive use?

And if so, how does your Pro kit differ from your personal kit (aside from the obvious, amount content big_smile)?

I keep them separate.  I use cream foundation in my kit which would be too heavy for my skin all day every day.  I use mineral powder as foundation on myself and it would not be suitable for photo work at all.  Mostly, it just isn't worth the time to sanitize my personal stuff to the same level of my pro kit.  Also, I have a lot of stuff that requires mixing in my pro kit and it is just easier to have everything I use for myself already be my custom shade.

It's always a good idea to do a forum search to see if a topic such as this has been covered previously.smile

I have found this to be the best search engine to use for MM:

i have my own kit, and one for client use, once or twice i've dipped into my kit for an eye shadow, but its not a good thing to do often.. keep your pro kit for client use..

No I don't use products from my kit at all, although I could do as long as I was using it the same way I would with a client (taking hygienic precautions of course). But if my sisters saw me using my pro stuff they would dip into too. There is a lock on my case for a reason wink

In compared to my personal and pro kit. My personal kit is pretty simple but is a hot mess at the moment because a ink pen leaked everywhere !

I definately keep my kits seperate, although as others have said, I do occasionally grab an eyeshadow or something, but never for personal daily wear, only when I am trying to use myself as test subject before I go and do a look professionally(if it's a new look that I'd like to work the kinks out of first). I like to have a firm grasp on what I'm doing when I go to apply a model, and sometimes that equals testing the products yourself first. But obviously with the same sanitation guidelines for me as though I was my own client.
I tend to spend waaay more money on kit things than I would products for myself, as I am on a budget!

Mine are separate....

the difference is pretty big...I use mainly cream foundations on clients/models but not on myself, it's too heavy. I use mainly BB cream these days and liquid foundation if I go clubbing etc..
I don't play much with colors on myself, my eyeshadows are all pretty much the same, browns, black, silver and bronze. That's it (not worn all together LOL)

Separate. The level of makeup we do and the amount of makeup we use on clients/models are twice as much as what we would put on ourselves, I've noticed. Creams are in my kit; tinted moisturizer is my personal.

Occasionally, I dip into my shadow palettes if I'm going out to a party or want a smokey eye for myself. Other than that, I stick with taupe, browns, whites, just neutral colors. I spend all day making others pretty, I don't really worry about how done up I look.

Separate.

Although I do use stuff on myself before I decide whether or not it's kit material, I always treat the potential kit material as if I were using it on anyone else - wiping, sanitizing, labeling with expiry dates... all that hassle.

Same goes for when I just borrow stuff out of my kit.

In the last 19 years, I have never used something from my pro kit on myself.

I have a dedicated closet for work makeup and supplies.

I have a drawer for my own makeup AND skincare in my bathroom.

No, I never dip into my pro kit. My pro kit is huge whereas my personal kit has been reduced to only the essentials.

Mine are separate as well. I always buy nice items that I originally intend to use for my personal kit but I always end up putting it in my kit instead. My personal makeup is pretty basic. I don't even like wearing foundation on myself anymore hmm

Yes, I need to make an official separate kit.  It started out that my professional kit started to grow around and swallow my personal one, been starting to separate out some items for my personal use (a mascara, some lipsticks, a foundation).
