What's a tog?
People get emotional about the slang use of the word here, I was wondering if it was actually in the dictionary. Look at what I found: https://www.google.com/search?q=definit … e&ie=UTF-8 It seems the word means different things in different parts of the world. Now I know though, if I tell you to "get togged ..." an articulate person would know what I meant, at least if they were in the right country. Dec 03 12 07:43 am Link Presumably you mean get dressed? Togs used to mean clothes when I was a kid but I have not heard it used in that sense for a long time. All togged up would mean all dressed up. In the UK models frequently abbreviate photographer to tog and it does not seem to cause the same offence that it does in the US. Dec 03 12 12:04 pm Link Tog is a guy around these parts who's looking for a name for his next account, by all accounts. Dec 03 12 12:37 pm Link Is it also a frog, to someone with a Scotchish accent? Dec 03 12 12:39 pm Link I'm actually surprised Tog hasn't dropped by yet ! Dec 03 12 08:12 pm Link It is an abbreviation for photographer. Dec 03 12 08:13 pm Link Yeah when I was a kid "tog" was mostly used as a plural "togs" referred to bathers or "get your togs on." It's one of those funny words you don't see often. There's a shop in the USA called "The Tog Shop" which sells ladies fashions.... I found that while googling the word "tog" Dec 03 12 08:31 pm Link Tog is Sturgeon bait. You obviously know nothing about the big fish. Dec 03 12 08:36 pm Link Only on MM where there are Togs, Mods and MUAs. Before I joined this site I'd never heard these terms, then I realized that it's just a bunch of lazy people at their keyboards Dec 03 12 09:14 pm Link |
