coloured hairspray? spray bodypaints?
Have you ever use coloured hairspray? I wonder is it looks ok? Do you think it may works for some stencils?? Do you think it may works as a small temporary colouring hair or skin? and I thinking more about using the stencils... have you being trying that Or is there any make-up brand got bodypaint it spray (like spray hair)? To be clear - I have airbrush, but I don't won't to invest in buying some expensive airbrush paints as I am airbrushing very occasionally - I just need few basic colours that would simple as possible to get travel with & to work with. I am looking for colours like silver, gold, black, white, maybe red and blue to add the extra details to the face-painting or simply get tiny sprinkle... Dec 05 12 05:00 pm Link I would NOT advise using a colored hair spray on the skin - there's a real chance that the pigments are cosmetic approved for hair, but NOT skin. And, the texture of the paint on the skin is probably not going to be attractive. Even though you don't want to, the best results are going to come from using bodypaint formulated for the airbrush. You can get a 1/2oz "sampler" set of basic colors from several body paint lines such as European Body Art VIBE or Trendy Tribals. Another factor will be the kind and size of the airbrush you own - as well as the power of your compressor. I would NOT try to push a waterbased airbrush formula through any needle/nozzle tip smaller than a .3 or .35. Alcohol based colors are more forgiving with smaller needle/nozzle sizes, but the trade off is opacity. You CAN use a mister spray bottle with water based liquid body paint like Ben Nye Magicolor (thinned with Ben Nye Final Seal) - but you're not atomizing the product. That being said, you can get some very cool spray patterns and textures depending on if you've spraying a stream or finer mist. BTW - Cosmetic body paints are not *expensive* per/ounce when compared to other products in a kit like foundation.... Dec 05 12 06:38 pm Link I have airbrush with .3 nozzle and domestic compressor. Two month ago I've sold all bodypaints (all ben nye and Fardel paints costs me over 150 pound...), as I didn't being using it for a while... I didn't have time and clients for practising bodypainting. Also I didn't like theme that as I like Kryolan aquacolours...I like to add the bling with the eyeshadows to my face/bodypaints...with ben nye it was looking worst... Also my airbrush have get blocked too often, spaying took too long, compressor was too heavy for travel... and I wasn't happy with metalic shades from fardel. So I just being wonder is there any other product for spraying the skin... You are right - hairspray for skin may not be a good idea  But is coloured hair spray looks good on hair?? I want to connect the make-up with a stencils sprayed over rhe sleek smooth hair...would it look good if I use coloured hairspray? Dec 05 12 07:16 pm Link Were you trying to airbrush with regular liquid body paint? Or with bodypaint designed for airbrush? That makes a difference. Also, the proper cleaner is a must. Many water-based body paints can be difficult to clean out of an airbrush if the color is allowed to dry inside the airbrush. And you have to be careful to work with a very clean airbrush. This is even more important if you use different formula products (silicone, water based, alcohol - they do NOT mix well). If spraying is taking too long, then you either have dirty equipment, too small a needle/nozzle for the coverage required or not enough air pressure for the design. Small makeup airbrushes are not the best choice for large coverage. Kind of like applying a full face foundation with a concealer brush. You have to have the right sized tool for the project. Just like foundations, different brands and formulas will have a different finish on the skin. We all have preferences. There are some wonderful products on the market that I don't use because I just don't like the finish for my style of artwork. You can airbrush body paint up from the face and on to the hair. I've done this in many of my images. On begging I my home if was warm, painting gone smooth. But working in different places was always hard - as place for airbrushing was always too cold... so airbrush gets clogging very fast... after few bodypainting even using it at home as very complicated because nozzle was blocking too fast. I thought that I could have bend the needle while cleaning, so I've ordered replacement - but it didn't changed nothing...
