There has to be a biological reason.. What do you suppose it is?

Ok.. in all seriousness.. there's a real biological reason women are dragged by the hair. Cavemen figured out early on that if they're dragged by the feet they fill up with dirt.. Duh!

I've evolved.  I throw my women over my shoulder. Ugh.

I think long hair on a woman in sensually attractive.  Nice long hair is a sign of good health and hence f'ability.

Males too, can grow head hair as long as they want to...

but...

Long hair is a handicap in warfare. (unless you are Samson...)

I figured this was the general answer. Although my hair is rather short, works just as well, just different.

Yes--it's biological.  Hair continues to grow.  Even after you die.  Women seem to dislike cutting their hair--hence it gets long.

Regardless of the origin, I do think many of us associate our hair with our individual sense of power, and/or personal potential.

I know that, during times in my life when I was going through intense change and working on career and/or serious goals, I wanted my hair short. During periods of my life when I was more interested in relationships and sex, I wanted it long.

I'm not sure if this is related to some underlying instinct, or just the fact that men leave me alone when my hair is short, so it's easier to focus on other things.

Actually hair does not continue to grow after death but rather it looks like it because the skin and other tissue is degrading thus the hair in the skin is exposed. Same with fingernails.

Biological reason women can have long hair is because they need something us cavemen can pull them around with easily, so they tend to take better care of it than most men. :p

Some Western wemon have long hair because they do not cut it.
