This story just has WTF written all over it. Apple and Google, two of the wealthiest companies around, and making a joint bid of around $500 million to buy up the bulk of Kodak's remaining patents.

First off, $500 million is not a lot for either company. Heck, each one of them would easily pay that to keep the other from gaining a competetive advantage. Why join up to bid? Its being explained as a cost-saving measure.

Secondly, why advertise your bid? If i were microsoft I now know what a winning bid would be.

Buying the patents is one thing.  I wonder what they're going to DO with them.

I've actually met some of Kodak's coders, and I hope things work out for them- they are a really cool bunch of people. But I have to think in the short run the code will become outdated pretty quickly. Their software has some decent color algorithms though.

Apple is needing a 2,000 dollar camera...I think I found it for them....

Well Kodak is needing cash....Apple and Google are just buying patents....
