I kind of bumbled on to one of his You Tube Videos yesterday, and was wondering if anyone here has used/purchases his tutorial on headshots?  Also, he's got a website that appears to be assembling headshot photographers in different cities to refer to inquiries he gets.  I'm assuming this is for a percentage of the income.  Just curious, since I had not spent much time looking at that site.

to me he seems to be all about engaging with the customer to get some good looks. his lighting is basically just bathing them in fluorescent.

Yes, the You Tube, I was watching was good.  And I noticed the fluorescents and the Hassy.  Just curious to know if anyone may have signed up on his referral deal.  He is great at marketing from what I can see and creative also.

I have Peter's DVD and joined his ph2 protege group. If you can't swing the $300 for the DVD or the $20 protege subscription then you can get a lot of info for free.

Free Stuff
Youtube - The BH and the Google+ conference are pretty much the same info but does accurately describe his setup and methodology.

Google+ - He'll post the first shoot of the day once in awhile. There's also a new headshot community where some of his students post/comment (https://plus.google.com/u/1/communities … 9365480618).

I think his php2pro.com site has a free level and you can view his posts and he has a good 10 mistakes post.

Paid stuff
The DVD is good. It's about 4 hours and shows sections of several shoots including one that was not going well and how he worked his client through it. He goes over his entire business model and offers alternatives if you want to do it differently. I watch it once in awhile for motivation and he has a good sense of humor so it keeps it interesting.

The protege subscription I think gets you access to the user forums and a profile page that can be used as a landing page.

Gear
He inspired me to try out the 4 light bank setup but I didn't want to spend $4K+ so I did a DIY for $1K and got his seal of approval. I also use them for video shoots. He describes in the DVD that they're not necessary. Any natural temp lights will work even the big one in the sky.

Technique
His deal is to not stress on the technical stuff and get people in front of your camera a lot and work on bringing out an expression. That's where his personal technique comes into play. He talks a lot, makes up scenarios since most of his clients are actors, and doesn't want to have to say "smile" and instead be humorous to get them to laugh naturally. His DVD goes into that quite a bit.

Retouching
The gang here on MM will love this, he doesn't do his own retouching. Once the shoot is over he passes them over to his retoucher who deals with the editing and printing.
