Cameron Russell: TED talk on Modeling/Industry
Cameron Russell (model for Vogue, Armani, etc) gives a 9ish minute talk on llamaing titled "Image is Powerful" Thought provoking and interesting. She was very frank, intelligent, and gave a great talk. I was amazed at how she showed her before and after shots of when she was a little girl and how they transformed her into a goddess by the production team. How fascinating was that? It looked nothing like her. I think she's a soulful person who obvioiusly cares about people and wants to shed some light on what its like to be a model (what its really like) the good and the bad. I also hope, like her that the industry gets more diverse so as to include more a variety of ethnicities, varied heights, weights, and ages. Dec 13 12 05:57 pm Link Im glad you enjoyed it! I was pretty stunned by her realness, as well. The photos were just mindblowing, and really drove her points home. Dec 13 12 06:25 pm Link Thanks for the link. TEDTalks are great. Dec 13 12 07:27 pm Link what I found interesting is that she spoke of only 677 runway models in total ... worldwide ... The NYU Ph.D. student counted all the models... and I would be guessing that (NYU is in NYC) that he counted the models on the runway of NY Fashion Week and that number makes sense (I am a NYFW shooter). She makes the point that they are constructions, the work of a team of people of which she is only one. Thank you for posting this. Dec 14 12 11:12 am Link Thanks for posting link. I thought it was good to hear her perspective on the industry. Dec 14 12 06:25 pm Link |
