For Christmas I got a set of Lancome Makeup Brushes... I tried searching for the brand on this forum and got very little information. I was wondering if anyone here has had any experience with them? What is your opinion? Are they considered "professional brushes?" They seem very soft and I haven't had any issues using them - just wanted to see others' experiences..

Also, I ordered a bottle of the Cinema Secrets Cleaner from CRC, but... it won't ship until the 31st. Is there something I can use to clean the brushes at home in the meantime? I've heard mixed opinions about using soap/water which is why I ask... any suggestions?

Are the brushes synthetic or hair?

If they are synthetic you can use shampoo or Dawn.

For real hair I mix olive oil and dawn on a plate like this

Do they look and feel like hair or do they feel synthetic? I just know synthetic by the feel and look of them

I have also used shampoo and then conditioner on my paintbrushes.

Also one very important thing is not stand them up to dry ( the water will run into the brush ferrule, loosen the glue and the hairs will fall out.

Look on the website to check the type of bristles. For my brushes I like to use Clearasil Daily face wash mixed with Dawn liquid soap or mild shampoo. I normally wash about 25 to 40 brushes a week. I do like the olive oil method but ONLY for natural hair brushes and I only do it 1 to 2 times per month.

I just use 70% or 99% alcohol on all of my brushes (natural and synthetic). It doesn't ruin either, is cheap, quick drying, the 99% removes product as well as disinfecting and the smell doesn't linger. I used to use CS brush cleaner but now can't see the point as alcohol works perfectly well.
