Hi guys, just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Uber, a 23 year old model/musician who lives in Lancaster, CA.

I also had a question. Since I'm extremely new at modelling (actually made an account on here 'cause friends kept telling me to), how do I go about doing things like approaching photographers and arranging shoots? Since I have basically zero experience in front of a camera, it frightens me, so any and all advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

The very first thing you want to do is go to the Newbie Forum page and look at the sticky threads at the top.

To get work you need to network, network, network. The more exposure you get the better you'll do. Comment on other's portfolios, even if they're not in your area. Start lists. Participate in the forums. As you start to post more work, ask for feedback in the critique forums (just be sure you're ready for brutal honesty when you do).

Browse for photographers in your area and find some whose work you like. Approach them about helping you build your portfolio. Be sincere and professional. It might take some time, but if you truly love it then be persistent.
