Who's job is it to watch out for it? The photographer, who should be watching everything in his viewfinder, or the model, who should know not to put it there?

The model is the first line of defense and the photographer is the second.

And if both missed, pretend it's a bracelet smile

hienvy Hi, ummm guilty as charged on a couple instances.
It sucks when you don't realize the hair-tie on the wrist thing until you look at the film you just processed.

So yes it is my or the photographers responsibility... unless you are one who has an art director on the set.

A hair tie is useful when doing makeup - keeps hair out of foundation. Then put on wrist when brushing out hair. Perfectly understandable, no teeny bopper required smile

Does it matter who is at fault?  If nobody wants to see it there, then everyone should be watching out for it.  If one of the parties needs or wants the photos for something, and they don't want the hair tie in the photo, they should be responsible for making sure that it isn't.  But responsibility is not fault.  The only time someone is 'at fault' is if they saw it, and then chose not to say anything.

Spending a bunch of time placing blame is a waste of energy and thought.  You're not happy, it sucks, so don't do it next time.

As they say, life sucks.  Get a helmet.

First time I did a shoot with a model she had the hair tie on the wrist.  I saw it and wondered what it was but I thought it was just some sort of bracelet and didn't want to ask.
I found out later that it was a hair tie and a big no-no in the photo world.

I do this all the time tongue
But I can usually get away with it by wearing allot of bracelets etc on that wrist, otherwise I will actually remove it.

But with this example, it kinda suits her allready modified face. i.e the gauges and peircings.

If was to mistakenly leave it on, I would NEVER blame the photographer for not telling me to remove it. However, everyone should be on the lookout for anything going wrong.

I wear one on my wrist for many reasons. I have pretty long hair, it gets in the way of things like cooking, washing dishes, brushing my teeth, etc. etc. However i much prefer to keep my hair down. I often need it at my day job, which I go to 45 hours a week. A hell of a lot more time then I spend modeling a week. So I generally keep one on my wrist, which is normally covered by a sweater/cardigan and no one ever sees it. Its also on the same wrist I used to pay the mortgage on my house, my car insurance, and all of my other very adult bills.
