New England Model Group - NEMG - should I go??
I live in CT and am trying to find an agency to start modeling more seriously. I recently have been talking to the people at NEMG in New Hampshire and they want me to come up for an audition. I've been reading about scams from them, but also about good things. Please, before I make a three hour drive up, I would love to know ANY experience / knowledge models have with NEMG. http://nemg.com/home.php THANKS GUYS AND GIRLS! Feb 08 13 01:02 pm Link You already know about their scams... and you're still interested in working with 'em? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKgPY1adc0A Feb 08 13 01:14 pm Link Boston is the market, Boston is therefore where the money is so Boston has real agencies, why bother with secondary agencies? Feb 08 13 01:36 pm Link I met with NEMG when I was just starting out. They had me read a line and took my measurements and snapshot, then told me to sign up for their workshops that cost well over $1000. Run, don't walk. +1 on the Boston agencies, if you don't have smaller talent agencies in your area, this is where it's at. Check out Maggie Inc and Click Boston. Also, hi, I was raised in Branford, CT. Feb 08 13 01:48 pm Link Melanie Kazmercyk wrote: Why would you look in New Hampshire when NYC is half the distance? Feb 08 13 02:05 pm Link All good advice. I am currently submitting to NYC but obviously is a more competitive market there. Thanks for the input, NEMG doesn't seem worth it and I will pursue Boston and NY. Feb 11 13 09:17 am Link Check out Maggie & Dynasty in Boston. Those are the two legit agencies i've encountered in my experiences here Feb 11 13 11:39 am Link You have to expect some kind of expenses,- be it Modelwire, new pictures, Comp cards, or a class (especially when you are just starting out). I have been with NEMG (as well as others, as you can be signed with one in each state) for a few years, and I couldn't be happier. They have sent me to more castings and gotten me more jobs than any other agency. They cover all of New England, not just the NH market. But you have to be serious and determined,- if for instance you say no to too many castings, they most likely will drop you. Feb 11 13 12:18 pm Link |
