I apologize first hand if I'm going all about this wrong >.<"
Any who. I've been FASCINATED with the world of special effects! I am dying to model them, be some one's canvas to completely change the way I look into any thing I can imagine! A good example of what I'm talking about is the show Face Off on the Syfy channel. If you haven't watched it yet...AWESOME show. People creating all kinds of magical fantastical creatures!

I just have no idea where to look >_> Can any one point in me the right direction? Maybe some tips on how to get my foot in the door would be sweet! <3 big_smile

Bear in mind that for an artist to create something similar to what's on Face off, it would cost a few hundred dollars.

You should expect to contribute towards the cost, especially for full cowls etc - Silicone is not cheap, foam latex although cheaper still has a high cost overhead in the set up for an oven etc, plus you have to consider that for custom fit a life cast needs to be made, again none of this is cheap.

Face off is a great programme for showing creativity but it really isn't realistic in the effects world, the quality of some of the work over such a short time frame would command a heavy financial premium in the real world.  The triangle of good - fast -cheap (pick two) very much applies.

also the only school I can think of off top of head near you is Joe Blasco's and I guess they would have a long line of models ready and willing.

I would suggest contacting them and seeing what they say, if you would be able to travel there are lots of schools: Savini's, Westmores, MUD, CMS etc., get a copy of Make Up Artist Magazine and ring round all the schools advertising in there.  There are also some excellent schools in Canada.
