Hello Florida.
I'm most likely going to be moving there next winter.

Probability of maybe 70%

I think it will be a good change. I'm probably going to be moving into a cheaper place in a couple months too, so I can start saving up some money this summer, to get started moving when the weather starts turning cold again.

I have a friend down there with whom I've recently reconnected. We were very close for a couple of years, and still get along really well. I don't have anyone up here anymore. I can't remember a time in my life when I felt more alone than I do now.

Yes, I remember your mentioning your reconnection.  I think it's wonderful. smile

I'll be moving back to the east coast, this year.  Not sure of the time frame, but my mother's health is declining, and I'm her power of attorney.  I'll also be getting the house.  I should have just moved there when I'd planned to in 2006.

Change is weird, but it's really, really good. Have you decided where you're going on the East Coast yet? I just want to be where it's warm and where, if I need some kind of help, there will be at least someone I can call.

It'll be Virginia.  My mother lives in Hampton, which is next to Va. Beach, and my older brother lives in DC.  I've got tons of friends in either place, but I imagine it would be Hampton, or the surrounding area.

Coordinating everything to match up regarding job there/notice here/travel time/housing there/etc will be a job in itself.  It'll be interesting...LOL.  I'll have to give at least a month's notice at work.

Since we're all disscussing it, I'll be heading back to the mountains, likely at the end of the year, either to Ft. Collins and the Rockies, or Washington.

I didn't know if you were serious. NoCal is like my heart's home. I love it up there. I just worry about being able to make a living as a single woman in a very pricy part of the country. If you genuinely want a roommate for awhile, we can definitely discuss it. It would be October or November of this year. I'm not sticking around here much longer.

I do have two cats and I love them forever and ever amen.

Tampa is pretty nice. My sister lives there and a niece in Clearwater. Pretty decent weather although it's been a bit colder than normal this winter.

If you drive down, I hope you would stop on the way and say hello in person. You are welcome to the guest room.

Good to live somewhere that you have at least one good friend to count on.

Lower cost of living FTW!

I'm looking for a job now and avoid NE like the plague... (And NY/DC).

It sounds like something you can look forward to!!! And if you can move before the worst of winter sets in, all the better!

I actually found it more affordable to live up here than in NC where I grew up, just because jobs there don't pay shit

I'm hoping I dont run into the problem- but if I can get a job in my field it'll require a master's and they'll usually have to pay a decent salary if requiring that from what I've seen.

But it is something I consider thwarting my yay-live-in-low-cost-areas plan!
