Does anybody know of a good iBook authoring services ... I have searched the MM forums and carried out a Google search.

I found a local service, however I would like to hear from the photographic community to discover other options.

The iBooks will be almost entirely made up of imagery not text - and will reflect hard copy layouts.

I am looking for ideas with regards to widgets and a more interactive style - I'm not sure what possibilities exist.

Thanks in advance.

Sorry I can't help you.  I will be following to see if anyone knows the answer or has suggestions.

Have you searched Apple's "Developer" material?  They may have information, software, etc.

Looked at your port.  Extremely well done images.

Another idea would be to contact the developers of some apps that you like/admire and see what they would suggest.  The app store usually has contact information for most apps.

Take a look at Smashwords, you can upload ebooks, not sure if they also allow ibooks, and they have people who offer to reformat your material for some minimal amount $50 or so.

hard copy?  Likely PDF format at some stage.   Create that.   Convert from there.

"According to the contract in iBooks Author, books that writers charge for through the iBooks 2 store are subject to fees, which isn't new — iTunes does the same thing with apps in the App Store. But the contract also stipulates books created with the Author tool may only be sold in the iBooks 2 store, and nowhere else. While some writers may deem the Apple iBooks store an adequate revenue stream, others may not welcome the regulations."
