Scams!
I've been with model mayhem for awhile now but just recently starting shooting with differently people and taking this site to my advantege! So, please, i've gotten scammed a few times!(well they attempted, but something just didn't feel right so i didn't follow through) How can i avoid scammers? What do i need to look for in a message that i should think twice about? Help! Please and Thank You!(: Mar 14 13 05:44 am Link If you have been receiving messages, you have been to your Inbox, right? Go look at it again and really look on the right, until you see the button that says "Avoid Scams." Then click and start reading. There is also a good section on scams at newmodels.com. Mar 14 13 10:22 pm Link I'm going to agree with the others, if you're offered a large sum of money or fame it's probably a scam - the clients for legitimate, well-paying gigs can afford to go through a real agency and they wouldn't be scrounging around on the internet. Mar 16 13 12:58 am Link if someone wants to pay a newer model thousands of dollars that should be a red flag right there. anything involving checks is dodgy. basically assume it's a scam until proven otherwise. there are a lot of scams. but usually you can tell based on the really bad spelling, grammar and it generally not making much sense (kind of like the writer of the message did too much sizzurp). Mar 16 13 11:17 am Link i agree. mayhem should require this. there's no need for any models to fall for scams (unless they're just so starry-eyed they can't resist but then they shouldn't be modeling in the first place). the current system isn't working. one of my models went so far as to receive the check.
