Looks like this week doesn't want to treat me nice either. I applied for a job, did two interviews for said job, and got a letter in the mail today telling me I'm over qualified and they've decided to pursue other candidates. I don't have the experience for a 9-5, and I'm over qualified for retail. I don't have references from a boss since I've been freelancing for the past 5 years. I feel like I'm up the shit creek without a paddle. So for now, I have to make the photography work. So I'm retouching some old shoots so I have new work to post (the winter is all boudoir and I can't post that)...maybe, just maybe, I can drum up some business. Luckily, I have some good ones to post. And I have two weddings this weekend, and a shoot with one of my favorite families, so if all goes well I can make it through the next month without too much problem. Lets hope next week gets better and things start picking up. I need the distraction and the money. Mar 21 13 04:17 pm Link you might have done this already, but have you googled how to approach interviews that you're overqualified for? even though they sent you a no, you could call and discuss why you think you'd be a good fit Mar 21 13 05:03 pm Link Zebadiah _MI wrote: I do need to Google that. I've only applied for one retail job, and it was that one because you get your schedule a month in advance which means I could still do photo work. Mar 21 13 05:12 pm Link Why can't you book boudoir in the spring and summer? I do weddings year round, senior portraits year round, basically everything year round...just some seasons are more prone to a certain kind of shoot. Now that spring is hitting, so will senior portraits since they want to get in their shoots before graduation. Mar 21 13 08:50 pm Link Laura Ann - Fashion wrote: Ahhh... Mar 21 13 08:56 pm Link You're just in a really shitty market. You obviously have tremendous talent. Frankly I think you are probably a little too good for the market you are in. You need to be in a place where there are a larger number of people who appreciate (and are able/willing to pay for) quality work. What would you do in a 9-5 office job anyway? Those jobs are slow death for creative types. Mar 21 13 09:12 pm Link GoldRoseMedia wrote: Pay bills. Mar 21 13 09:25 pm Link |
