Any Plus Size women walk runway?
Any difference for a Plus Size woman to walk runway then someone who is well Straight Size? Just like it is to pose, well sometimes. Any tips? What type of shoes and height of shoes are appropriate? This isn't for a casting, I am already in it and am looking for some more practice. Apr 02 13 04:35 pm Link No real difference, just go with what the client wants, wear what you're told how you're told to etc. Apr 03 13 11:29 am Link Yup! (I know, way too short - and yet I get booked for it more than you'd think) Same as with anyone, really - posture poise and pacing Oh, and if the designer puts you in something that makes you look like a giant booby pineapple with no waistline and and an arse with its own post code, smile, walk like you're a queen and don't complain Apr 03 13 11:36 am Link Can you ask the client what to wear? I don't *know* about plus models specifically, but I do know they tend to be a little taller, so you're on the "shorter" side at 5'9 if it's agency girls, and I would think pretty tall heels would help you. But, if you're walking with mostly non-agency plus models, then you are probably one of the tallest, and that may be less sound advice. Good luck!!! Apr 03 13 11:52 am Link Thanks ladies. I walked for Alternative Fashion a couple of times, but it is different to me due to the expression and posing you have to do. Then, again I was lucky enough to wear flats and the one time I had to wear shoes that had heels I was on a platform. Usually, I am the only Plus Size woman at these type of things. Although this is a bigger venue; so who knows. Maybe there will be some aspiring Plus Models there getting there work in. I will find out more as time goes on I am sure. Apr 03 13 08:06 pm Link not really . it all comes down to: walk the way the client wants you to walk, and show the clothes. the difference, imo, is what the client wants. compared to "regular" runwayshows, plus size shows tend to be a bit more commercial, or have a walk that is a bit more ehm over the top (think tyra banks in the 90's ). here is a plus size fashion walk: (elena miro, they even used to be in fashionweek, and all the top plus size agency models are in these shows) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWm_zWvs340 here's a show that is a bit more commercial, but still has a fashion vibe (notice how the models look at the audience sometimes, smile sometimes and do more "posey" poses at the end) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F6FeYt5KeKk here's a show that is a bit more "over the top". they all walk really "sexy" and can do lots of personal stuff on the runway https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kQEs09npNA high heels, definitely. but only if you can walk in them! I think a basic black pump is always handy to have, but again: ask the client what they want (or maybe the clients provides shoes). make sure it has a sturdy heel (more proportionate for a fuller body), and that both the shoes and the soles are clean! Apr 04 13 07:07 am Link I've definitely *seen* more plus models do a more hippy walk. Those shows always look so fun! Apr 04 13 07:20 am Link Thanks and... The video suggestions help. Apr 06 13 04:06 pm Link Anna Adrielle wrote: Oh gawd. I knew I was going to hate that first one. Apr 07 13 12:36 am Link |
