I'm driving through St. Louis in a few months and would like to do some automotive shots that are obviously in that city (model + car standard stuff).  Anyone know of easy places to shoot that would include some of the iconic landmarks of the city in the background?  Also anything I should know about shooting in St. Louis that wouldn't be obvious??

The classic "postcard" photo of St. Louis is the skyline, shot most often at night from across the Mississippi River in East St. Louis, IL.

If you go to East St. Louis to shoot, be aware that many parts of that city aren't safe. Best and safest areas to shoot are in the vicinity of the casinos on the riverfront in East St. Louis.

The Arch is also visible from the historic Eads Bridge.

The bridge was designed with an arch motif that some say was the inspiration for the Gateway Arch.

The bridge has two levels. The upper level is for car and truck traffic. The lower level is used by MetroLink, a regional commuter train system. In the photo above, the large arches at the bottom are part of the bridge's support structure. The smaller arches above are on the lower (train) level. You can see (and shoot) the Gateway Arch through the arches on the bridge's lower level. (Not that you can get a car on the lower level - but it's possible to include the bridge and the Arch in the same photo.)

Busch Stadium in the downtown area is another location that "says" St. Louis.

Laclede's Landing (not far south of the Eads Bridge) is where Pierre Laclede landed and founded the city, i.e., the oldest part of the city. Parts of the area still have cobblestone streets. Businesses range from quaint shops to bars, restaurants and a casino.

Among many other things, Forest Park  houses an art museum. Outside the museum is a famous statue of ... Saint Louis (King Louis IX of France), the original symbol of the city of St. Louis.
