that explains the steps to creating this sort of android/artificial joints look? I've seen a couple but they seem to basically bend lines without looking authentic. Thanks.

Hahaha! I forgot to post one of his images for reference. I was hoping to find a tutorial on how he makes it look so realistic. Thanks!

Yeah, this guy (MichaelO) is TOTALLY amazing!

And the only idea that comes to my mind is that he had some model/mannequin created in 3D/CGI rendering and animation program (Poser, for example) which is later used for grafting/blending with a real model. Unfortunately, I don't know much about Poser (or some similar software), so I can't tell you the details...

You have to know how to use the pen tool.

You have to have some idea about the anatomy and structure of what you want.

And you have to be comfortable airbrushing or dodging and burning the illusion of shading into the edges of your pen tool-masked regions.

I was told to disect the body sections and create a layer for each (lots of them). Then have a common light/shadow/bevel-emboss source after doing the smoothing/dodge-burn magic to the skin. Of course this does not include fine tuning. big_smile

Thanks everyone.
