I confess,
I have never been much a fan of lipstick. I didn't like the look it gave my lips. However, I feel like I'm on a fruitless endeavor to find my "perfect shade" of red for my lips. I feel like I've tried so many different lip sticks brands and shades of red to help me find my "ideal shade" for my lips sad

I know to look for a type of red with blue ingredients in it, because it helps make the teeth look whiter. Advice? I'm thinking of just going to the make up department in the local Belks and ask for their advice on what my 'ideal shade' would be for me. My pics in my album here have a lot of my more "natural" look because I prefer minimal make up when I go out to shoots

Have you tried Lady Danger from MAC? It's what I think I would instinctively reach for if you were in my chair.

Synster much depends on the visual statement you wish to make with your lip decor... and can be heavily influenced by the color temperature of the illumination at which your lips with be viewed  at an event or photographed... 

You mention you prefer a more natural look... then you might consider the actual product being used... oft times I adorn a client with liner pencil only which provides a gorgeous matte finish... that said, for photo-shoots the creative director may wish to see specular highlights sparkling on the lips which mandate a either a cream and/or gloss coat... both products translate brilliantly on camera...

best advice?  as you mentioned, visit with an upscale counter artist and seek their tenured guidance... however be certain to validate their choice in natural light either window or outside since this can/will dramatically alter the perceived shade/tint/tone of the hue/chroma... while counter artist are indeed focused on selling product keep in mind they are also seeking clients for life... they have an agenda to make it "right" for you...  Still it is wise to visit shops who's counter artist don't rely solely on commission, enough said...

btw, in my humble estimation there is no "perfect" shade for an individual but rather a suite of shades appropriate for various scenarios... doing bridal one becomes keenly aware of the drama associated with getting this "right" that is why trial sessions are invaluable... you'll never be certain until you see a suite of product on your lips under the illumination by which it will be viewed...

Ooooh +1 that would look great, I love that colour so much. Also Ruby Woo by MAC would work if you wanted a more 'classic' red.
