I don't now about laser treatment but acne comes and go. It isn't like if you treat that spot, it will disappears forever.  You treat one spot, another spot will produce acne.

I had a severe acne problem and went to dermatologist.  The following advice were given to me:

1. Drink lots and lots of water.
2. Wash face with soap twice a day (if you have oily skin, you need to wash with soap more often).
3. Hands shouldn't be touching face if not washed with soap.
4. Avoid putting anything on face as much as possible.  Your skin needs to breath and the more you block the skin, the more acne it will produce.


In my case, it was too late so I had to take medication and I had to report to the dermatologist every other day for two weeks.  Then after that, I had to report every week (oh yes, blood sample were being tested as well, before medication, during medication and after medication.).

Remember, once Acne gets into your bloodline, it is hard to get rid of it.  The only thing that would stop it is medication.

My advice is go and see a Dermatologist and get professional advice and see what are your available options.

By the way, I have been Acne free for 20+ years..
During my teenage years, having acne wasn't fun.

Justine, there are a myriad of associated risks with Laser acne treatment... the pigmentation issue is also front and center with steroid injections typically used as a temporary fix for stubborn acne lesions.

You have been given excellent advice here... seek the guidance of an esthetician or dermatologist license to practice in your jurisdiction...  Rich is spot on in avoiding an initial consultation with a practitioner who's primary affiliation is with a clinic which specializes in Laser therapy... Albeit you may be referred to the aforementioned as a result of a consultation...

Please keep in mind that Acne can't be totally cured, only controlled... but control can/is highly effective in most situations...

Common wisdom is to start with a visit to an esthetician... they are highly trained, licensed and will know when to refer you to a dermatologist... estheticians are an integral part of effective triage... starting your journey at this entry point will afford you to better understand the full suite of treatment options/benefits/risks etc. 

Starting with an initial visit to a dermatologist may remove some appropriate options from the table... hope this makes sense...
