One of the problems is that, if you're going to have a good and productive shoot, things ARE going to show, so make sure you are working with someone who won't take and post that shot. Look at implied nudes online, study poses, and look in the mirror. Find what angles your body looks good at. Or interesting. Or sexy. Or not sexy. You're going to be focusing a lot on your body, clearly, so don't forget your face, because that's important, too. Personally I don't shoot implieds but if I did I would recommend pasties and a g string to my model subjects

Art? Some of it is, some of it isn't, and not everybody can tell the difference. Not sure what else there is to possibly say about it.

Art of the nude wrote: Nearly every model has limits, and ideally, the model can trust each photographer they work with to honor those limits. "no nipples or labia" isn't all that different than various other conditions a model might insist upon. Maybe, maybe not, but trying to pose freely, fluidly and without looking uncomfortable while still keeping all three of the above covered is pretty nigh on impossible for even the best of models. I'm normally happy to work with models who don't want their lady parts shown as that's pretty easy to do with angles, shadows, posing etc. and it's not my kind of photography anyway, but they need to be comfortable being nude in the studio and not be desperately trying to cover up all the time. Finding an "implied only" model who satisfies those conditions is like looking for a needle in a haystack so, for me, it's just simpler and less stressful all around to not work with "implied only" models. either you're comfy being naked or you're not. this implied term is just another way of saying 'hey no spread shots' so the more correct term is art nude. discuss the type of images you want, check their style. simple. if you're not comfy being naked, then don't even try.

I love the challenge of shooting implied nudes. To shoot an implied so it looks natural without the hands covering the bits is not easy but that is where the challenge is.

Never understood implied-- If you pose nude--when you see the images you can pick the implied ones. Too hard to worry about what shows while you are posing. You never know exactly what the photog sees. My 2 cents

nyk fury wrote: your title is 'nude modeling' not 'implied nude modeling'. i think if you want to put out implied nude work, then you would have to first be comfortable being pretty much nude for the shooting itself, because otherwise everyone is going to be very self conscious and tightly wound concerning the naughty bits at that time. I agree 1000 %. As a primarily nude photographer with over 250 artistic nude shoots a year, I make no distinction between nude and implied images. Models who are not being in front of the photographer full nude should wait a little longer till they are fully reconciled with being nude on the set. In each of my shoots I photograph both nude and implied. For the models they may have 3 concerns, what will the photographer can see, what the public will see, and what the people on the Internet will see. #1 As the photographer I am probably going to see you fully nude... The whole package. While a bit nerve wracking at first, those butterflies go away relatively soon in a shoot usually around 10 minutes. I just shot a gal on Friday who is part of my Henna project, the project will not have nude images and she was never required to show her front to me as the Helena piece was a very large back piece. She spent the first 10 minutes of the shoot clutching her sweatshirt like her life depended on it. It became apparent that it was affecting her shoot and her posing and energy. I asked her to drop the shirt and understand that I may see her body, but the parts she was concerned with would never be photographed. She dropped the shirt took some amazing images, she became very comfortable on the set......... #2. As far as the public seeing the images, yes depending how the images turn out there is a good chance the images will show up in an exhibition or in one of my published books. I always tell the model that is my purpose in shooting... I never do things for just my port... How silly. I also tell her that maybe I will never use any of the images it just depends. #3. The Internet, tumbler, Model Mayhem, or any of the others out there. If she is concerned about images on the Internet I never post them. You know those models who say they will never do nudes. Most of them will and for me at least they do. But the Internet crowd will never see those images. They are all comfortable see the prints in a show so if I do use them they are very happy. So I hope the OP will just pose nude. Find a photographer who is amazing and who you trust. Let go of those inhibitions and just shoot. I know you will find the experience liberating and a lot of fun IMHO Risen Phoenix

If you're nervous about doing nudes/implied, I'd suggest first shooting with a photographer you're 100% comfortable with and have done many successful photoshoots with before. I think it's then easier to decide if you want to pursue that type of modeling seriously or not.
