I'm trimming up my portfolio.

Tell me what to lose! Or what to keep, if you prefer to be positive. smile

I'll give a critique of you choice in return! In you don't choose, I'll just do a general critique.

You have a lot of headshots. I would get rid of a few of them. These three IMO are the ones I would consider getting rid of first.

They are not terrible but you have much better examples in your port, such as these.

Those first two of the "keeps" are my muse, so it's good to hear I'm doing her justice!

You know, I'm not as big of a fan of your non-nude work as I am of your nude work.

I'm wondering if part of it is the models-- perhaps you pay your nude models and not the non-nude? Maybe when you do you next nude shoot-- paid or not-- see if the models will do a clothed look as well.

The non-nudes just lack the depth and emotion-- aside from this, which I find lovely.

This one I have mixed feelings about, the lighting is nice and the model is nice but I don't like his expression, kinda stoned looking and the background is kinda weird.

I actually don't want any sort of critique. I think you show a talent for headshots and if you turn your focus sharply towards actors you might really bank there. Incidentally, we use the same camera! Which is why I stopped by to say: "I like what I saw."

I concentrate on a different field from you. Good luck!!! And make sure you charge!

I have been shooting a lot of actors and am only really trading with models. My love is for portraits, so headshots made sense to me.

That's certainly a big compliment. Quite a nice one coming from you. bunny

You clearly have already trimmed some at this point.

I was not sure about - the expression is sorta "In Between" as if she is starting to react - or say something.  Then I looked at it in full sized - and I like it much better out of the thumbnail size. She's lovely and there is great detail there.

Not so much

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/130913/15/523395c58350b_m.jpg  kinda flat - not much to highlight or focus on

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/120303/20/4f52ef6ab3371_m.jpg  To me - Colors are  .. .odd - her skin is pale - yet without enough of the pinkish undertones you see in really pale skins (in a lot of cases).  I actually think this might be better as a B&W

This is the one that jumps out at me as being a little flat.

The rest I like a lot for various reasons. Nice work:)

For you--

I don't love
18+ https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/30127490
The eyebrows throw me off, the stomach looks oddly one dimensional (is it shopped? Something is weird) and my focus is on armpits. Meh.

I LOVE:
18+ https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/31332730
Jordan is fantastic. And so is this picture.

Everything about this is awesome. I love the light coming through, the color, and the action.

You have a great book, but I just feel like something is *missing.*

I think it's clothes. More specifically, clothes on a redhead.

More more specifically, clothes on THIS redhead.

*nods*
Yep. That would fix it, I think.

Ha! I think you might be right about that.
Whenever I finally wind up back in LA(being happily homeless at the moment) we'll have to try to fix my portfolio big_smile

Thanks very much! - it helps to have other perspectives.

I see what your are saying - Not shopped much (I don't have many skills in photoshop) - It may be the closeness to the VERY soft light source flattened things out

One of the links you gave didn't work - but, I think this was the image you were talking about based on the partial number

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/1 … aabe99.jpg 18+

Thanks for the kind words about my shots

I would probably get rid of the one of Nicole, and I would settle on only one photo of yourself, as you're selling your photography of other people, not of yourself.  If you want a portfolio of self-portraits, that would be well deserved, but I would not have them detract from attempting to market your work shooting others.

smile

I don't need your thoughts on my work, I just need to get my butt to LA to shoot,  THEN you can critique the hell out of me.  tongue

Get rid of these two:

They aren't bad, but they are not quite up to par with everything else in your portfolio smile

And for me?
