Hello everyone.
I have seen some amazing work of artist recreating the look from "Apocalypto". I was wondering if any of you know how to create the teeth from this movie. Please see link:

Was special glue used or prosthetics? I would be very grateful if you could help me out!

Pretty sure an alginate dental mold was made - and then a sculpt was made on the plaster/resin cast of the teeth. A new mold was made of the final sculpt, then cast & painted.

This gives the best fit, but is obviously dedicated to on actor.

There's probably a generic one-size-fit-most used for background players.

You could also be able to create a less detailed but passable look with Tooth Paint (Ben Nye has several colors) and rhinestones tacked on with wax. Not as durable and the model won't like the taste.

Thank you very much for your help! I think for now I will get the "insta smile fake teeth" and decorate those and see how that works!

Just be sure to use mouth safe paints and items as much as possible out of respect for the wearer.

Craft paints range from Non-Toxic but not advised in the mouth to solvent-based and really not safe at all for in the mouth.

I will! I usually test the products on myself first before I do something on clients. Thank you for all your help!

The World Body Painting Festival in Austria has offered a workshops on making teeth. Forget who taught it but I helped him set his classroom up in 09 and wow! A distance away but maybe worth looking into. Many great workshops are offered and you can connect with others from Germany for closer resources.

Before you start taking impressions or sticking thing on teeth, I would recommend check the legalities with Germanys governing dental council, because it could be classed as an 'act of dentistry' and if a client or model complain of tooth damage following anything you have done to their teeth you could be prosecuted.

I would also recommend you get a letter from their dentist prior to doing anything to make sure they have no underlying  dental problems that could be made worse by doing SFX stuff on their teeth.

I also work as a dental professional, and have had to treat a lot of emergency patients with problems caused by muas or beauty therapist having a go at doing things on peoples teeth they are not trained to do or shouldn't be doing

As a dental professional there is no way these can be used as they are NOT designed to used over a full tooth. Unless the tooth has gone through initial stages of crown prep the op will only damage the models tooth by trying to put these over them and should not be used for this purpose.

These products are designed to used by trained dental professionals only!!!

Thank you for this information but I was not planning to stick or glue anything on the actual teeth. I have used fake teeth that you can get from halloween stores and have trimmed and decorated them to my liking!
