Hello MMers! I've just come back from a short hiatus and just got done re-vamping my portfolio. Please check it out and let me know what you think! I'm not looking for rude critiques but for constructive criticism and advice on how to take my port to the next level. Thanks! Feb 13 14 11:24 pm Link I think in putting together a portfolio it is good to have an understanding of different fields. Art, fashion, etc. So I find your portfolio to be an unattractive unholy mess and you look non-monsterish, but the angles on you, your posing and expressions and the compositions all add up to a mess. I would burn them all and start over but with clear ideas on what constitutes a portfolio. As a model you can discuss compositional ideas with photographers when building a powerful portfolio. I'm just going to link to some images: full length: dresses: http://awhitecarousel.com/wp-content/up … aly-ad.jpg Beauty is always good to have: http://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/x47 … ctory8.jpg Sunglasses and bags http://djstorm.files.wordpress.com/2012 … r-2012.jpg You can tell the photographer you want the same depth-of-field http://jetsetfashionmagazine.com/wordpr … 3-2014.jpg http://en.ce.cn/entertainment/fashion/l … 239510.jpg Feb 14 14 12:03 am Link Feb 14 14 05:12 am Link So having looked at your port, your profile and the images and the images that you listed as inspiration I get the impression you are interested in two areas. 1) - the artistic nudes, of which you have some decent work like this, But that has more to do with the location and work of the photographer than highlighting your skill as a nude model. 2) Fashion leaning portraits like this one, Again here, the skill being displayed is more on the photographer/MUA and retoucher side that what you brought to the table. This last image also provides an example of what I really wanted to discuss with you. Your expressions/emotions you are conveying in your images. Right now - they're not great IMO. Look at this portrait, you have your lips open wide but your mouth is shut and that REALLY looks awkward and feels forced (not natural) and almost looks like you are upset. You have to find a way to stay relaxed and convey honest emotion in your work. That more than anything else will help you at this stage IMO. You're a beautiful girl, and with some of the photographers you have worked with you should have better images in your port. Get thee self in front of a mirror and practice those expressions. It may also help to divide your port and focus more on showing work that will get you the shoots you are most interested in doing going forward. Cheers, Mauro Feb 15 14 04:55 am Link |
