Where, like always, I received a message from a photographer to do a sample retouch and bla bla. I done the pic, sent it, the guy didn´t liked it and bla bla, I just forget about the stuff. Today, I received the same message from the same guy, asking for another picture.

I believe that he´s systematically sending those and scaming retouchers on this site.

Where can I complain to administration about this, so they can investigate the guy?

it is normal to send only a watermarked copy for approval and payment before sending the large finshed file

What made you think sending a sample was a good idea? You have a portfolio displaying what you can do. Why would you agree to that? Secondly, what makes you think it's a scam? Is he using the said image that he said he didn't like?

Consider informing the inquirer that you will be sending the low res files back to him including cropped closeups of your work and if he wants the high res version the work you put into the image must be paid for. Do so BEFORE accepting the test or any images so it doesn't appear as a bait n' switch. That way you'll know if they're serious and you could potentially make a new client right off the bat.

Key advice: DON'T accept the test if you look at the image and are not at all excited to get to work on it. Crappy work leads to a crappy portfolio and you've shot your own foot in your client selection pool.

I believe I received the same message. However, it stood out to me that multiple Retouchers were being sent the same image. I requested a deposit, and of course he disappeared.

These are all red flags that scream to me that the images are being sent to multiple Retouchers in promise of payment upon completion. Please be careful. Anyone have any others to add to the list?

1. Being sent a Dropbox link with only 1 or 2 images
2. Instructions in the Dropbox link
3. No question of pricing, just "send sample back with invoice"

Watermark the shots and or politely ask for a 50% fee in advance. These are both very normal regular ways to do business, some inquiries will end there, you'll get used to it. You needn't over stretch your trust if you don't feel right about a project.
