Looking for some help with my photos. On the one hand, photography is a fun thing for me to do on the side while meeting cool people with a desire to create. I don't claim pro status or anything so I don't take it OVERLY seriously. But on the other hand I don't like doing things poorly if I can help it. With that in mind, can I get some advice on my port? I only have 4 pics in there right now. I'd like something more than "this one is good" or "this is bad." I get that kind of shallow response from people trying to trade comments. Can I get some serious critique on these with tips to improve my shots? Thanks everyone! Feb 28 14 06:03 pm Link Here's a tip! Whatever you are doing to edit your model's skin. Stop! It's not good, it looks fake. Learn frequency separation. Try to find less distracting backgrounds for models to pose in front of. Graffiti walls are very cliche and often don't work. All the colors create a distraction. So far, it's not terrible. Keep practicing! Try to get better poses out of your models. Use reference images if you need to, it helps. I usually keep a mag or two around just for the occasion. Feb 28 14 06:13 pm Link Show me her feet Subject to centered in image [If you have not heard of rule of thirds might be something for you to look up] Simon says touch your head, touch your tummy, your out Simon didn’t say touch you tummy. [Pose does not look natural] Level horizon [Photo right is low] Face looks some what washed out Some times works best to just hook thumb on pants What is the subject the wall or model? Move model away from wall so it is just a blur in background Models right arm too straight When showing that much arm would like to see the hand Lint on top Fix tag so it does not show [Or cut it off] Use clips on far side of top to tighten to get rid of wrinkles [Out of camera view] Lower shoulder toward camera and roll it back [This will lengthen appearance of neck] On camera flash giving harsh shadow from nose and arm [Use a flash bracket so flash is directly above camera lens] Have fun Wish you well Mar 01 14 05:20 am Link Thanks for taking the time to do this. Clearly there is some work to do. So I need to focus more on the quality of my post work, directing the models better, and then framing the right things into the shot. Does anyone have anything they haven't covered? Is there anything else? haha Mar 01 14 11:44 am Link |
