Netflix is totally addictive - right or wrong?
Never considered it Always thought the viewing options were limited. Friend bought me a subscription for Xmas and I AM STUCK! OMG You pick a series, press go, sit back and - as it goes automatically from episode to episode - you just let the day slide past you. Am I alone? Mar 28 14 12:04 pm Link I didn't watch movies or TV for nearly a decade, until I discovered NetFlix. I could never justify paying for cable to get a bunch of crap I would never want to watch, or even to buy a TV, when I had a laptop. Netflix, Amazon and streaming features are really the only way I've ever watched TV or movies. I was using Netflix back in 2006, when they delivered them to your house with the mail. I've never had conventional TV, or even a DVD player. Mar 28 14 12:52 pm Link Love-hate. When you find something that you want to watch and especially if it has multiple episodes, it is excellent. If you need to use it to find something to watch, OMG, it makes my head hurt just thinking about it. Sons of Anarchy's most current season should be on there soon as well! I will be entertained...at least a week. Mar 28 14 04:09 pm Link In the sense that it keeps me from spending money on a tv and cable- yes. But that's more me being cheap than the overall quality of Netflix. Mar 28 14 05:00 pm Link Pretty boring, all the movies are old and it sucks. Solarmovie is free, loads of movies domestic and foreign new and old are there to watch and entire series in HD are available as well. There is also this other free website that caters to TVs with internet connection but forgot name with loads of free movies new and old, series, cartoons etc. Each website provides various links to chose from... the top 5 are the best with fast load speeds and HD... I had netflix until I found out about those two websites.... Mar 28 14 05:22 pm Link You don't even need the fancy internet enabled TV to stream Netflix -- Chromecast review http://www.cnet.com/products/google-chromecast/ "The Google Chromecast is a dirt-cheap wireless video dongle that streams Netflix, YouTube, Pandora, Google Music, Google Movies & TV, and HBO Go to your TV using Android or iOS tablets as remotes. Its small size hides neatly behind your TV and makes it easy to take with you when traveling." http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2 … -best-apps Mar 28 14 06:06 pm Link I love it and hate it. I ended up only going with DVD rentals when they increased their prices, but I miss the automatic quality of streaming. But streaming is pretty limited in its content. I still end up renting at Red Box and the like. Mar 28 14 09:28 pm Link Oh man, its addictive. its playing right now in the background of my web browser. I watch so much more TV now than I ever did before. Good thing I love multitasking. We don't have regular TV now, so we just have netflix, and hulu sometimes. Now I can watch How I Met Your Mother, Futurama, and Greys Anatomy over and over again as many times as I want. And get to watch Orange is the New Black! Now if only I could stop watching. I told my roommate about that link and he tried to register and it asked for a credit card and stated first month is free, then $49/months... I dunno. When I had netflix it was IIRC about $8/mo (and didn't get enough out of it to justify that price so I dropped it). Mar 30 14 07:04 pm Link I thought it was so ridiculous that so many people complained when Netflix separated video rentals/streaming. Netflix is STILL SUCH a bargain compared to cable and satellite! No - the movies are not quite as new, and there are somewhat fewer choices...but when you consider that Netflix is a FRACTION of the cost of cable and satellite, it's a great value! I got one thinking it was like that... but it streams those FROM YOUR LAPTOP to the TV... It has no streaming functionality on its own. Apr 24 14 03:40 pm Link Gary Melton wrote: It stops being a bargain once you've run out of shit to watch, and they don't upload anything new or interesting. Apr 24 14 03:42 pm Link I had it for a few months 2 years ago, but I cancelled because the movies that supported streaming were so limited. Looked at it a few weeks back again - doesn't seem like their selection has improved much. Apr 24 14 03:46 pm Link Okay, so your friend gave you a subscription to Netflix for Christmas... Well you know, you don't really have to use it if it causes a problem. I like Netflix. I wouldn't say I'm addicted though. I find it convenient when I'm traveling, or when I don't feel like going to the video store and pay like half my Netflix subscription per month for just one movie. Sure, the selection isn't the most complete, but it has a lot of interesting stuff, so I'm not complaining. Apr 24 14 04:57 pm Link Is there any way to view the available shows and movies on Netflix before subscribing? Apr 24 14 07:39 pm Link It was but they need to update it more; if you have cable and keep up to date on the shows they have there... its not that exciting. however when i move out i'm not paying for cable; ever. netflix& free amazon(while i'm a student) all dayyyy Apr 24 14 09:51 pm Link DougBPhoto wrote: Apr 24 14 09:55 pm Link Netflix to become real TV and get its own ‘cable channel’ next week http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the … next-week/ Apr 24 14 09:55 pm Link Since getting Netflix for my birthday last year, my wife loves me, I have binge-watched: Doctor Who Torchwood Foyle's War Downton Abbey (DVDs from Netflix) George Gently Right now I am watching: Star Wars: The Clone Wars Murdoch Mysteries (aka Artful Detective) And although I found it somewhere else on the internet, I am watching Babylon 5 again. Addictive? Maybe yes. Maybe no. I can't tell, but I need to find something else to watch. Apr 25 14 12:39 pm Link Orca Bay Images wrote: Yep... Normally there is a 1 week trial May 28 14 12:05 pm Link Netflix lost one of its suppliers due to legal matters. Now the pickings are pretty slim. There are some real Indy and foreign clunkers. Very few recent Hollywood or good foreign flicks. I've seen all the good new TV series I like and its very hard to find anything I want to watch and they don't update fast enough. Best best are the Korean movies, they are the best filmmakers in Asia and can compete with the European film industry also. However I've reached the bottom of the barrel there also and if they don't provide new quality content soon I'm going to drop Netflix May 28 14 12:19 pm Link I wouldn't say it that it's addictive per se, but it definitely helps with those late night baby feedings when nothing else is on regular television. May 28 14 12:19 pm Link It's quite addictive but not as addictive as books. The worst thing is I always watch something while taking a bath, doing my make up and getting ready in general and then when I'm done and supposed to leave the house I continue watching the episode/ movie to the end and I end up late everywhere (apart of important things) May 28 14 12:31 pm Link |
