I submitted this picture to Picture of the day yesterday (first submission) and was surprised it got no votes. I know I'm new to this site, but am I not uploading the right resolution or am I just missing what are the ideals here. The tones are not bad and the face I thought was alluring. It's a bit backlit but it's not a snapshot as some zero vote submission appear to be. https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/1 … e842bc.jpg Thanks! I'm fine with some failure...it only makes me work harder! Photofrog Mar 31 14 05:15 pm Link Deeper critique of my portfolio welcome as well. I submitted this for Wednesday's contest. Unretouched image. https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/1 … dc56f5.jpg Mar 31 14 05:31 pm Link Looking at the first picture, the resolution appears to be low and the picture is pixelated. The light and door in the background are too bright. I would have made the shot a little tighter removing some of the empty space above her head. All of these things draws the viewers attention away from the subject. I do like the pose, the models expression. The composition should have the model centered more. The is a spot on the photo (on your lens) above the models head which caught my attention at first. I am not sure about the pose and camera angle for the shot. I think some adjustments to the pose, more twist / curve in her body would be a little better. The flash looks a little hot as well. There is a visible shadow on the ground behind her. Try lowering the power and adjusting the angle of the flash to help prevent the shadow. These are just my first impressions and things that I have had pointed out in my photos in the past. Mar 31 14 08:16 pm Link photofrog911 wrote: I looked at both photos and your portfolio. You can't tell what's wrong? I would suggest you're suffering from shoot euphoria. When you look at a photo from the shoot you're reminded of how much you enjoyed the experience and the model but you're not really looking critically at the photo. In the first photo the model may have looked rocking but you didn't get the shoot. We get that you may be awed by her, but you didn't capture her in a significant way. You either haven't learnt enough technique or you just forget it sometimes at this stage of your photography. Mar 31 14 08:31 pm Link Thanks, everyone. I appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. I'm sure to learn faster this way. I did lose my head when shooting the lingerie! Way too many variables going on. Apr 01 14 09:49 am Link |
