It bothers me how difficult it is to get signed to an agency if you are in between sizes. I am not naturally slender nor plus-size, but I take care of myself and am in great shape. I have a figure women often compliment and men love because it is healthy. I would love to be represented by an agency but I have been told that I am in between straight and plus. So frustrating! Especially when you see girls like Kate Upton who is in between doing so well. Thoughts/Advice?

Have you tried going to some commercial agencies?

For commercial print in LA, size 6 is not a deal breaker. Do you do any acting/ commercials as well? It might be beneficial to get in on the talent side as they use those girls for a lot of commercial print as well.

I know some PLUS agencies in NYC that consider a size 8 as plus size and have some girls on their board listed as size 8. But you may want to try an agency that has that "Commercial" factor so that you won't be labeled as in between.

And don't forget Fit modelling!

If your measurements are 'perfect' for size 6, and remain consistent...

Just my $0.02 etc. etc.

Well, you have a face that many would kill for, and even though you are between sizes, I think you look fabulous. Maybe you are trying to fit into the wrong market? Maybe you should try other options?

I just feel excluded by the current market because I am not a size 2 or 14, although somehow there are very successful exceptions to the rule. Also, I like the way I am and feel like I am the healthiest version of myself, so I am not trying to change that to fit some mold. I just submitted to a number of commercial agencies in LA, so hopefully I get some responses!

You look great.  You really, really do.

But modeling isn't about you.  It is about what the market, or their agencies, want to see.

You have a choice; you can conform to the standards, or you can feel great.

I hope that you choose to feel great.  But if you want to model for pay, you have to conform to what they want.

Wishing you the best.

Indeed. And there is no specific size as such.

There are a dozen or more fit agencies in LA but they usually want experienced fit models.

So if she's interested she'd have to get a job for which her sizes were right, then take it from there.

I found four in LA this last month which show the range of sizes.and different specs. None right fir the op atm but third one is closest.

You have to just keep looking until one comes up close to your sizes .

It's generally well paid and regular.

Also look on fashion companies careers section regularly. Thats how I got mine.

Then explain kate upton? She is drastically different than the Victoria's Secret model type and does not even look to be in shape, with a thick waist and no hips and untoned limbs. Of course she has a large chest, but many girls do and have better overall physiques. I guess she used to be naturally thin when she was younger and just has great management that has kept her relevant.

Eh. Bringing up individual celebrities does little for your case.

I disagree with that poster, though. There are plenty of people who have to change to fit in, but in LA, you may be fine how you are.
