Hello fellow MMers! I'm looking for some critique/ recommendations on my portfolio, I'd really appreciate it as I'm never sure it's good enough hmm

http://www.sandravalero.portfoliobox.me/

I'd like to have some input from other professionals as to what you think, and how to continue working on it.

What about the "About me" section, is there anything I should include/ get rid of?

Thanks so much, I'll reciprocate leaving you some pic comments! smile

Professionals?  I'm a commercial makeup artist... and hold a Cosmetologist License in make-up artistry which is mandatory for those who work in salons... Don't really use the moniker "professional' since it is so highly abused in my market... hope this makes sense...

But my Pro TEMPTU Card is good for a 40% discount smile
And my MUSE Beauty Pro Card is great for 30% discount... smile
totally love their esum brushes...

See your a MAC artist... not my fav, they wanted $35 for their Pro Card... while they do offer 40% discount they are the ONLY cosmetic vendor who want to charge me to showcase their product... no way, not paying MAC's radsom... lol

Sandra since I'm not in your market thus can't really provide truly meaningful feedback... That said you have impressive credentials which you have showcased effectively...

That said, in my market clients want to see skin texture... much of the imagery in your book has been rendered in post processing to the point that skin texture is missing... this is not a good thing... suggest you select work in which YOUR artistry is visible, not that of the graphic artist a.k.a. retoucher... hope this makes sense...

What could you do to enchance your BIO?  Might consider sharing the application methodologies you're proficient in... i.e. Are you accomplished in airbrush? or simply limited to traditional... This can be a major factor in bidding jobs...

Final thoughts?  Have you considered the benefits of imagery reflecting experience in working with talent of all ethnicities?   And gender neutral?  The lion share of my agency assignments are for commercial video which involves a significant amount of male grooming... It is huge in my market... especially video work which is now dwarfing stills...

All the best on your journey...

Thanks for your input! I meant professionals as in people who know the industry and are actively in touch with what they do (be it photographers, MUAs, stylists...)

I work for MAC as a way to support myself besides my freelancing, since I am not at a point where I can just live on assignments. Spain is a tough, very tough market with very limited work. Also, I love the training part of makeup and I'm heading in that direction within the company.

I do airbrush but just basic, traditional makeup, that's why I was hesitant about including it in there, I am however expecting to do a good airbrush course in the future and then start marketing that as well. I just don't like to brag about something I'm not that amazing at yet! smile

Your book is fine, I would add some more variety like a lot more commercial work, where the models look fresh and not magazine like.
Do kids, do brides, do actors and avoid retouched images in your book.
Then go there to check out the folks working and how they package themselves

The only real work I know of is in Barcelona.

Hi Sandra,

I am not in your particular market either but I think your makeup is wonderful. Your natural makeup on the 10th girl down, the girl with the freckles and the black girl on the bottom is quite subtle and soft and enhances the models faces while allowing them to look simply fresh face. The glamour makeup application is wonderful, I would just watch out that the blush doesn't get too overpowering. I know that for glamour we put a lot of emphasis on the cheekbone but on the 16th model down she actually looks a little bruised (it could also be the hue of the blush because number 8 looks great). I like your fantasy makeup as well my only suggestion for that would be to have a little more fun with it smile Also the 2nd picture  on the 2nd to last line , although it is an interesting picture, it does not really show off your work because the lighting (it look like there is a blue gel over the light distorting the color on the whole picture) doesn't let actual makeup show through.
I think your port is fabulous!I love seeing other talented mua! I am a mua/model as well and would love it if you would do the same for me and give me your personal critique on my MUA page  https://www.modelmayhem.com/2772954
(it;s different than my model page).
