Just for modeling, as well as an Instagram. Currently I just have my portfolio listed in an album on my personal Facebook. As more photographers add me, I'm considering creating a separate page, and only accepting friend requests on my personal account from people I've worked with. The thing is I'm not sure if this is a good idea as I'm only an unsigned model, and haven't done enough shoots in my opinion. At what point is it acceptable to do this?

Facebook, hmm sometime before the IPO would have been good wink

If anything I would make a second account for your model alias.  I personally don't and only connect with models I have worked with via their personal pages, never a fan page.

Instagram, as soon as possible

I never use Facebook for work. IMHO it is for amateurs only.
For people not with an agency I think a personal website is a better option.
It is a bit more professional and it means you are taking you modeling seriously. There are now very cheap options and great templates to make a very professional looking site.

Okay, so no Facebook page then.
How and where can I make a website? Thank you by the way!

I don't even have a personal Instagram, so let's see how this goes. Lol. Should I use my real name or a fake one? I don't want people from high school thinking it's my personal account; or is it usernames and such?

There may be people with more experience here for template sites. My photography and Studio sites were custom built.
I have a running site where I used Godaddy. I am happy with that, but again lets see what others have to say.
You might also check out Wixpix.

Although I agree that facebook is not particularly professional I do think it can be a valuable tool for casual networking.
I'm a profession Equestrian photographer. I do have a website but I also have a facebook page which keeps people informed of what I am currently doing, events I'm attending, links to the galleries for photo's when i have them prepared and so on, I couldn't really do this on my website (blogs don't have the same casual chatty feel). I also have people tag themselves and/or their friends on the photo's they post which in turn makes me known to my followers friends, which is what networking is about.
I am also friends with a multitude of photographers, models and MUA's  on my personal facebook page which comes in handy, again for networking as it keeps me in touch with what they are up to- group shoots etc This in turn gives me the opportunity to be involved in their shoots at times.
I do agree with the comment that you would be better to get a facebook page in your model persona rather than a fanpage. Fanpages have some annoying restrictions  for instance you can't send messages in the fanpage identity.

Do it sooner rather than later.

Do you really want those drunken selfies or the drama of your personal life shared with those you work with?   Its a pain in the ass keeping a personal facebook page sanitised  and professional.

I don't add anyone to my personal facebook profile so I made a facebook page and haven't looked back. I run mine a little bit more like a blog though, it's personal without my likers knowing too much.

Whatever name/identity you want to use to market yourself as a model, I would suggest a stage name much like actors.

It's ready made for us in the visual arts space, just as long as you avoid the cheesy filtered wink

I've heard directly from several models I've worked with that Instagram is much better for getting yourself noticed than fb.  I know of at least one model that has cancelled her fan page on fb.  She keeps her personal page, though.

My best advice is not to listen to everything you hear in the internet.

Make whatever you want, Facebook is very helpful to a lot of people here, especially now that Modelmayhem is dying.

Everything close to my name was taken, so I ended up going with Natalie.Faith
If I went with my middle name I would have had to use underscores and numbers, wich looks unprofessional in my opinion. I found something though, so I'm happy.(:
