I apologize if this is already a thread somewhere. I've searched around and didn't see anything relating directly to my question.

For those of you who use facebook for networking, do you prefer to create a page that people can "like" or make a whole new professional account (solely for modeling) that people can friend request? What's the benefit of one over the other?

(Also, I'm aware that some people do not like to use facebook at all and I acknowledge that is an option, too.)

Thank you!

I use a page for my model stuff and a profile for my personal Facebook. I don't have to monitor who likes the page like I would have to monitor friend requests. Plus, there's a limit to the number of friends you can have on Facebook.

Hi,
I have both, a personal page for friends only and an artist page that can be liked.

I use both, it's easier for people to search and find a page but for those that find me via my profile I'll add them as well. I post more public news and images via my page and reserve my profile for personal news and my hobbies.

Here's a profile for my photo persona: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100008371380313

Going to experiment having one and seeing how fans/viewers react to seeing more stuff.

I have a Facebook page (Dekilah) and a profile (Dekilah Divine). I also have a FB profile under my real name. I used to use the real name profile to control the page. Now I mostly use the two Dekilah ones. As an "internet model" (or whatever you want to call a model who posts photosets online, has fans, etc), I find that the profile gets more use and interaction. More people comment on my posts, I get more messages, and I can participate in groups and comment on other posts, etc. I do still use the fan page and I have over 500 fans there that are not my friend on my profile.

If I had to choose one or the other, I'd keep the profile and lose the page, at least at this point. Thankfully, I can have both ^_^

I have a page to be liked, that way anyone can see me. However, due to my aunry family, I have the settings altered to where I must approve posts. Always helped to not be harassed via facebook.

Create a page for your modelling, not a new account.  A page is designed for this, you get a lot of statics about likes, interactions, geographic region, etc.  If you ever want to run promotions or integrate with other sites, you need a page.  If you join an agency, you can delegate administration of the page to them.  You can manage pages from your mobile/tablet with your same credentials, so you see both personal and modelling with one sign-on.  You have a lot more control about post visibility and a proper approvals workflow.  Pages can scale to millions+ of likes.

If you create a new profile specifically for modelling you are likely breaking the terms and conditions of Facebook.  You need to remember two sets of logins, and can only see one at a time on your mobile/tablet.  You'll also need a second email address to register the second profile.  Getting too many likes on a profile too quickly will get your account blocked.
